All I Want

Okay, first of all: Please note that this entire fic takes place during 'Pleased to Eat You', only withoutbthe evil spider people. Please assume that Merton went home and moped about for a week or so. Second, the characters are not mine nor will they ever be. I might do anothe chapter, but I'm not sure yet, I have like 12 in progress BWOC fics right now -sweatdrop- Anyway, hope you enjoy. Read and review, please!

Merton had been ignoring him for the entire week. Homecoming was tomorrow and the older boy hadn't spoken to him once since he'd blown off meeting in the park. The Goth had been locked up in his lair moping, at least that's what Becky had told him when she'd bumped into him in the hallway just a few hours ago.

"Merton, buddy, are you down here?" he poked his head in the door, having opened it with the key Merton had given him some time ago. His friend was lying face down on the bed, his head in the pillows.

Tommy was beside him in seconds, sitting on the edge of the bed, his hand on Merton's shoulder. "What's wrong?"

He got a mumbled reply he didn't understand and thus rolled his black-haired friend over.

"You are."

"Why?"

"You ditched me."

Tommy sighed, "That's all this is about?"

"That's ALL? Tommy, you have no idea what's been going on the last few days, do you?" Merton asked, pulling away from the hand that still rested on his shoulder and moved to the opposite side of the room, as far away from Tommy as he could get and still be in the house.

"What?"

"Everything went back to the way it was before. Back when I didn't have a best friend and got shoved into lockers and beaten up," Merton lifted the base of his t-shirt up to reveal several deep purple bruises.

A wolfed out Tommy pulled the other boy into his arms. "Who?" he asked protectively. "Who dared lay a hand on you?"

"Possessive, are you?" Merton mumbled, snorting incredulously, once again moving away.

Tommy approached again, pulling the shirt completely over his head to inspect the damage as he un-wolfed. "These look bad…"

"Thanks for your concern…"

"Merton, I'm sorry. I let Tim and Travis get to me and I ditched you because of it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry this happened to you because I couldn't protect you," Tommy whispered, sitting down beside his best friend on the bed. "I'm sorry. Tell me who did it and they'll never hurt you again."

The Goth shook his head. "What? You're gonna go beat them up? You're not violent, you won't do that."

"Watch me. Whoever hurt something of mine is going to pay for it." he replied before he could stop himself.

"Tommy, I'm not yours."

He looked up hesitantly. "Maybe … maybe I want you to be."

"What? Are you kidding?"

In reply, he leaned over, pressing a soft kiss to the others lips. "Answer your question?"

Merton nodded, snuggling against him, his head fitting perfectly against the other boy's shoulder, immediately calmed with the other's presence and these new feelings out in the open. "You're comfy."

"I'll take care of you, Merton."

"I know you will. You've been doing that since school started this year."

Tommy shook his head. "Not this week I haven't. I wish you'd tell me who did it, you don't deserve this. I don't know how people can do this stuff to you, hurt you."

Merton sighed, his eyes fluttering closed, relaxed for the first time all week against Tommy's body. "They don't know me like you do."

"I know that. Merton?"

He made some indistinguishable noise signifying that he'd heard the other.

"Will you go to homecoming with me?"

Tommy felt him nod against his chest. "That will kill everything you've been working for all week, you know that, right?"

He nodded. "I shouldn't have been working for anything. I should have been helping you. All I want is to be with you, Homecoming King or not."
