Love as Their Religion

Author's Note: Three drabbles, 100 words each. Drabbling is hard for me because I tend to…maybe…overwrite, sometimes? I couldn't get a tag out like I wanted, but I still had so many 'ideas' and inspirations after Houses of the Holy aired…so, I decided to try out drabbling some of them. They're just…random…conversations and thoughts, really. The first is between Sam and Father Reynolds after the séance, the second is just Dean's musings, and the third is…self explanatory. I wasn't going to post these…I wasn't as comfortable with the turnout as I wanted to be for posting…but, I figure, what the heck. I hope you like them anyways.

Warnings and otherwise: Slight spoilers for Houses of the Holy. Title was inspired by the quote below that helped inspire me to write these at all.

Disclaimer: No matter how hard I pray, Dean and Sam and anything Supernatural will never ever be mine.

I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for religion - I have shuddered at it. I shudder no more - I could be martyred for my religion - Love is my religion - I could die for that.

----John Keats

Whispers of Angels

"I can honestly say...I never would have believed that had I not seen it myself."

"I don't mean to sound condescending, Father, but isn't your whole deal believing even in what you don't see?"

"That notion was impossible, though."

"A man who thought he was an Angel. Everyone knows men can't be Angels, son."

Sam heard a comforting whisper echo in his thoughts.

As long as I'm around, nothing bad is gonna happen to you.

He then smiled and his eyes glimmered with a secret knowledge as he spoke softly with confidence.

"I know one man who could be."

Surrendering Faith

Dean would like to believe. He just isn't ready to yet.

He's lost too much to yellow eyes.

He once had faith, but then momma died and daddy left without goodbye and Sammy made him promise something Dean could never do. Where are Angels in all of this, he wonders. Or if there are Angels, he reckons they just fly away at fire's first flame.

But he thinks- he doesn't need religion, God or Angels, as much as he needed Sam to believe he could be saved. So if Dean could not surrender his faith to that, then to what?

Pray for Heaven

The evening was catching up to them.

"So, you prayin' tonight?"

Tentatively, but genuinely- "Yes."

"What for?"

"It's not what I pray for, it's who."

"Okay, who?"

"What," Dean grinned teasingly. "That I'll get into Heaven when I die?"

"I pray in gratitude. I pray thanking God you're still here. So, you know, I can be a pain in your ass. Otherwise, what's the point?"

Dean sunk in his seat and cleared his throat.

"Also, I pray you'll go to Heaven," Sam added with a smirk. "…'Cuz Hell would kick you out."

Dean laughed. "You know it."

I really hope these weren't too terrible, lol. Feedback is lovely and helpful should you choose to share your opinions. Thanks for reading.
