Disclaimer: I don't own anything.

A/N: I was feeling slightly morbid. And for a good reason.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

Some days, the pain wasn't too bad.

Sometimes she just felt numb.

Today, it hurt to breathe.

It hurt to feel.

It hurt to cry.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

She knew she had to get up. She had to go on with her life.

Every once and awhile, exhaustion would hit.

She wouldn't get out of bed. She spent the day sleeping.

Those were the days when her dreams got the better of her.

When she saw him. Clear as day.

There were no wounds. No blood dripping from his wrinkled shirt.

No bruises on his face.

He was Ron. Alive and healthy.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

Today, it hurt to breathe.

Tomorrow would be better, she told herself.

She wouldn't feel so alone. Or lifeless.

Life was something she had been granted.

Most days, she didn't feel worthy of it.

He was the funny one.

She didn't laugh anymore.

She didn't feel anything, but pain.

And heartache. Yes, that was the worst.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

Ginny had tried to get her to come out.

But Hermione wouldn't leave his room.

It was the last thing she had.

She slept in his bed. In his clothes.

She'd been there for weeks.

The funeral had left her broken.

His still body laying there.

His face pale.

His eyes closed.

She really loved his eyes.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

The wall held memories.

Pictures. Posters. The paint color.

Memories.

Today, it hurt to breathe.

Her vision swam with tears.

Hot tears, that wouldn't stop until her pain did.

She cried until her body shook.

Until she had a headache.

Until she was nauseous.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

Tomorrow would be better, she told herself.

It'll get easier to breathe, she promised.

Ron wouldn't want her unhappy.

Or scared.

Or in pain.

She repeated this to herself.

Every day.

Hermione sat staring at the wall.

Today, it hurt to breathe.

A/N: Don't worry. The sequel to MIMK will be up and running soon. I've already started the first chapter. The plot bunny bit me on the ass and forced me to write this. You know what to do! Review!
