Just Like You
By Silver Sailor Ganymede
When he was younger, Sasuke had wanted to be just like his brother. Itachi had everything, absolutely everything, and unfortunately this left nothing for Sasuke himself. Even Sasuke's parents favoured his brother, their eldest son. All Sasuke had was Itachi, but back then that had been more than enough.
That was before the lies started though, that was before Itachi too begun to leave him. His brother always made it up to him though, although Sasuke didn't really want his brother to do the things he did. It made him feel sick inside, but Itachi said that it was normal so it must have been. Sasuke was sure by then that he was the sick one; it would be yet another reason for his parents to hate him so much after all.
Then there was blood and death and fire. Black blood and red death; carnage, bitterness: warped vermilion eyes. Itachi had killed them all, letting insanity and want for perfection consume him. Itachi killed them all, but he let his brother live, and that was perhaps his greatest mistake.
That was the day on which Sasuke finally realised how far from perfect his brother was, and how long he himself would have to travel before he achieved anything. That was the day on which his fight for peace and journey towards perfection and corruption had begun.
When he was younger, Sasuke had wanted to be just like his brother, but now he knew better than that. Itachi was weak, Itachi was flawed; Itachi was human. Sasuke was now flawed or weak, not any longer; he was perfect. Perfection did not come from nothing, but if becoming just like his brother would have been his future, Sasuke knew that his soul had been a very small price to pay.
