Authors notes: This story picks up from the scene wehre Tom tells Cassy he doesn't love her in the finale.

"I'll admit I made a mistake when I married you!" Tom exploded breaking into Cassy's recitation of his wrongs. "Matter of fact I don't think I ever loved you!"

Cassy turned, her face registering the shock and hurt that she felt.

"What did you say?" She queried in disbelief.

"I said I never loved you!" He reiterated violently. Turning and catching the expression on her face, he immediately calmed, regretting his words immeasurably. "Cas..." he started to say, reaching out a hand to her.

"No! It's good that you're finally being honest with me." Cassy said taking a step backwards, hands up as if to ward off an attack. They stood in silence, Cassy desperately fighting back the tears that pooled in her eyes. Finally she broke the quiet.

"I should go. I promised Harry I'd call him when I got here. Just watch out for IA okay?" She choked out around the lump that had lodged in her throat.

"Cassy!" She turned to gaze at a remorseful Tom. "Use this one here." He said pointing to the phone on the bedside table.

"No..." she shook her head "I have to...I have to go." She mumbled tearfully.

Turning she grabbed up her bag and bolted out the door like demons were on her tail. Which they were. The demons of her past. The memories of being all alone and unwanted. Being shipped off by her mom when she remarried so that she wouldn't be in the way. Her grandparents encouraging her to get out of the house, so they could do stuff on their own. Her friends always having other, more important things to do than hang out with her.

Cassy hadn't gotten more than sixty feet, barely rounded the corner, when she tripped and almost fell dropping her purse. "Damnit!" she cried trying to grasp the anger so as to fight back the tears. Bending she began scooping up her things from the ground and shoving them back into her bag.

"Damnit, where's my wallet?" she said to the air, desperately trying to latch onto a rage that wasn't coming. She searched around on the floor for a while before hurling the purse at a nearby wall and sinking to the ground slowly, arms wrapped around her knees, her whole being wracked with painful sobs as all her resolutions of not crying dissolved in a torrent of tears.

"Cassy?" Tom called rounding the corner. He spotted her crumpled form and was at her side in seconds, drawing her into his arms and rocking her tenderly.

"Let go of me you jerk!" She sobbed pitifully, struggling against his hold.

"Oh Cass...Cass I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it! I don't know how I could've said that! I'm so, so sorry!" He crooned into her ear stroking her golden hair.

"I don't believe you, now let me go!" She yelled pushing against his chest trying to get away. She couldn't let him see her like that couldn't let him see how much he was hurting her, couldn't give him that ammunition.
