Up North

The first thing Spike noticed when he woke up was that there was some obnoxious, loud, annoying music playing, and that Dawn wasn't next to him.

He managed to stumble down the stairs, and was greeted by the sight and smell of Dawn cooking pancakes at the stove, singing happily along to the music.

He moved behind her, and wrapped his arms around her. "Why up so early, Bit?"

She grinned back at him. "Have you looked outside?"

"No. Why?"

Her eyes lit up, and she dragged him over to the windows. "Look!"

"Spike pulled back the curtains gingerly, and shrugged. "So?"

"So?! It's amazing!"

"Oh right," he smirked at her. "I forgot. California girl and all that."

She stuck her tongue out at him. "Can we go outside? Please?"

Spike sighed. "Sure, why not. Not like the sun's going to be out today. Wrap up warm."

No less than five minutes later, Dawn was ready to go. Spike rolled his eyes, but once they were out, her delighted shrieks and happy smiles managed to push aside his irritation at being woken up so early.

"See, Bit? There are benefits to living up north."

Dawn just smiled and kissed him, pulling him down into the snow.
