DISCLAIMER: I do not own anyone and anything related to the WWE/ECW.

A/N: Inspired from Aerosmith's "Dream On". I used Tommy Dreamer as the main subject in here because I truly feel that Tommy has made ECW as what it is in the hearts of the old ECW and its fans. This fan fiction is set during ECW One Night Stand 2005. Originally had lyrics in it but I just realized that songfics are banned. So, now, on to the fic!

Thomas "Tommy Dreamer" Laughlin is the heart and soul of Extreme Championship Wrestling; or better known as ECW. Everybody knows that. Everybody knows that Tommy would do anything for the business that he loves so much.

Seeing him in a match is just enough to see how much Tommy loves wrestling; the mischievous sparkle in his eyes when he comes across a foreign object like a barbed wire or steel chair, the satisfaction on his face when he successfully makes his opponent double over in pain; their face bleeding. It's no wonder they call him "The Innovator of Violence".

But all those years of receiving excruciating punishment from his opponents has taken a toll on his body. Being caned with a Singapore cane, being driven through countless tables, receiving multiple shots to the head with a steel chair; Tommy wasn't getting any younger and neither was his stamina and endurance. His face and body are scarred from the all the beatings he took and shades of grey are starting to make themselves present in Tommy's once jet-black hair. Tommy knows that one of these days; he might end up in a wheelchair. Hell, he'll get to live past 50 if he's lucky.

But the look of awe, concern and shock in the eyes of the fans and his family, the sound of the fans chanting his name, the sound of the fans showing their appreciation to him; that makes it all worth it. Every single drop of his blood, sweat and tears makes it all worthwhile.

Tommy could feel the excitement of the fans and he could hear their familiar chants; calling for him to come out the moment his entrance music blared through the sound system.

He turned to his tag team partner for the night; Jim "Sandman" Fullington.

"Ready?" asked Jim, holding a beer can. He laughed when he saw the familiar glint of excitement in Tommy's eyes.

"As ready as I'll ever be," he replied.

He took a deep breath and entered through the curtains. He was greeted by the screams and applause of the fans. Their reaction was enough to send shivers up and down his spine.

Tommy was living his dream and as long as he's there, he can keep dreaming on.
