New, New Dance Lessons

"No, not like that. Look." Rose gave the Doctor a little shove and gave him a demonstration for what seemed like the millionth time, taking steps to the music that filled the room. "Up, right, down, left. Just follow the beat of the song."

The Doctor scowled and drew his arms across his chest, leaning back against the wall. "I'm sure I could do this a lot easier with some real music, not this club stuff. Sounds like the forty-third century in here."

Rose laughed. "It's not 'club stuff'. It's dance music."

He looked at her skeptically. "You can say that all you want, but all I hear in there is bass."

"Well then, you should have no trouble following the beat." She took his hand and led him back into position, giving him a teasing smile. "Come on. Show me your moves."

He sighed and began moving awkwardly, nearly stumbling over his feet while Rose laughed at him. He did his best to scowl at her without breaking his concentration. "You know, I could do this no problem in my last body."

"Only the one time," she reminded him. "But you did catch on quick then... Guess you just don't have it any more."

He struggled for a bit more, trying to follow the rhythm and keep up with it. Finally he let out a frustrated growl that made Rose jump back just a bit.

"Alright, that's it. I am done." He took a step back and proceeded to perform a perfect box step, followed by the Charleston and the Foxtrot for good measure. "There. My dancing skills are just fine. I do not need to learn how to play Dance Dance Revolution."

Before Rose could respond he gave a quick kick to the dance mat on the floor and stormed out of the room. She moved to follow him and broke out into a fit of giggles.

"But Doctor!... Mickey was really looking forward to playing with you!"
