Disclaimer: Detective Conan and Magic Kaitou belong to Gosho Aoyama, who I am not. This is just a little poem I wrote recently... I blame the Princess Tutu marathon. (Don't ask, you don't want to know.)

Masquerade Waltz

Bow to the moon, bow to your partner
Start up the music of shadows and light.
Laughter and curses and moments of grace,
Waltzing with masks, we're dancing tonight.

It's sort of a dance, a waltz in the moonlight
The partners keep changing, a dance just for two.

Smile of a clown or a circle of glass,
False faces hiding a puzzle-box mind.
Silver-light fantasy, full-moonbeam dreams
Spotlight the steps of the child left behind.

It's sort of a dance, a waltz in the moonlight
The partners keep changing, a dance just for two

Bring in the detective, his own mask unchanging
The shadows are looming 'round the pas de deux,
Strange music of gunfire alters the rhythm
And the masks are all cracking, the faces show through.

It's sort of a dance, a waltz in the moonlight
The partners keep changing, a dance just for two.
A Masquerade Waltz, spinning dreams into nightmares
And nightmares to questions of just who is who.
