Well. Me, Lady Timelord and Raxacoricofallapatorius were all talking about what proof we have that the Doctor loves Rose. And I suddenly remembered a certain bet…
You never get out of a bet.
The Doctor was standing in the control room, tears coursing down his otherwise motionless face. He was thinking about Rose again, about the way she used to smile whenever they went somewhere (or somewhen) new, about the way she used to moan about his oral fixation, and about all the things she had taught him. Yep, a nineteen year old shop-girl had taught a nine hundred year old time lord. She had taught him how to smile, taught him to move on, given him light in the eternal darkness of his heart after the war. And she had taught him compassion. And sometimes, that could just about kill him. It was because of the compassion she had taught him to show that there was still a Dalek in the universe. But she had taught him something so much more important than all of that. She had taught him how to love. Because he had loved her with every atom of his being. The last time lord in existence. And he was completely obsessed, besotted, infatuated, and oh so totally in love with a nineteen year old human. He almost laughed, except he couldn't. not now. Because he had lost her. He had been willing to send her away, but she'd come back. And then been taken anyway, and that's what hurt the most.
He had met someone – a young woman named Martha Jones. She had travelled with him for a while, but it wasn't the same. She kept saying things that made him think of Rose, or doing things so very differently to the way Rose would that he would wish Rose was there instead. And in the end, Martha had left. She was tired of only being second best. So the Doctor had dropped her home. he wasn't even that upset.
But now, here he was alone again. And the only person who would make him feel better was trapped in a parallel universe. he drew in a ragged breath and wiped away his tears. It does no good to dwell he decided. But he had no time to think about anything else, because without warning, the TARDIS gave a huge lurch and the Doctor was thrown into a crumpled heap. Just as the Doctor was able to stand up, the TARDIS gave another lurch, and he was thrown back down.
And then the TARDIS was still. The Doctor rubbed his head.
"Ow. What was all that about!?" he demanded, and then he looked up. And when he looked up, his hearts stopped.
"I must have hit my head harder than I thought." He murmured. The image in front of him grinned.
"Nah, I'm as real as you!" she told him. The Doctor reached out a hand and touched her face.
"Blimey, you're not lying!!! But… how?!"
"Ah, I'm just very clever. Work for a big alien company, bound to discover things. Like the fact that I actually have a part of the time vortex in me, so I can use the pull from that to get back!" She smiled. The Doctor was momentarily speechless. And then he knew. He knew what he should say.
"Rose Tyler. I love you!" Rose Tyler fought against the tears now threatening to fall. She failed.
"I love you too." She choked out. And then the Doctor closed the gap between them and kissed her, his tongue running over her bottom lip, asking for entry, which she gladly gave.
They pulled apart when the need for oxygen became stronger than there desire to continue kissing.
"I'm so glad you came back." The Doctor murmured.
"I had to." Rose gasped, still slightly breathless. "You still owe me a tenner!"
xD R&R please! Hope you liked it!! and the Doctor DOES love Rose!!! Please don't attempt to disagree. I have a million answers prepared already for why you are wrong.
