A Very Odd Alarm Clock

This one's for Ludo, peoples! Yay, Ludo! Inspired by a science article about water existing on Mars, with some awesome artist renditions of a Matian landscape, which reminded me of the hill Sarah stood on at the beginning of her adventure... Yeah, science projects and insanity mix well until typed. Or until they explode...

The Mars Explorations Rover Destiny was chugging along the dusty Mars landscape, clambering up a hill, guided by computers and people thousands of miles away. It was about halfway up when its cameras detected something odd about the huge orange-yellow stone up ahead...

The rover couldn't be certain- it was still too far away- but the boulder looked... hairy...

Ignoring the comands to keep going max speed, the rover slowed down a little, something in its circuts sparking in warning. The geas that compelled it to obey the Motherboard back at Command kept it from stopping completely, however, and it found itself within five feet of the thing all to soon.

Up close, the Rover could see that the rock was indeed furry, and wondered if some sort of alien moss was growing on it. It steeled its hardwiring before whirring closer to try and grab a sample of the fur...

Mars Exploration Rover Destiny was suddenly cut off from the Motherboard, and the people at NASA marveled over this problem for a few hours before exciting news was delivered from the Mars Exploration Rover Serenity.

Ludo was more than slightly puzzled by the odd, pointy, shiny thing that woke him up by jabbing him in the back. He had rolled over to see what it was, and was startled when it disappeared. Then he realised he was lying on something, and lumbered to his feet. Looking down, he saw what must have been the pointy thingy, but it now seemed rather flat... Ludo looked over his shoulder, at the Labyrinth he'd been facing when the pointy-turned-flat whoosamawhatsit attacked him. He reached down and picked up the thing- 'Thing sleep?' Ludo wondered. 'It no move...'- and carried it to the Labyrinth.

Sarah would know what to do with it, so he'd ask her.

For some reason, Sarah had looked absolutely stunned when she saw Ludo's attacker. Once he'd explained, Ludo watched Sarah cover her face with both hands, shoulders shaking. Her thought she was crying, but what came out next was a giggle.

"I'll get rid of that, if you want me to," Sarah's voice was still muffled by her hands. Ludo made an affermative grunting noise before turning to vanish back through the mirror. Sarah shook her head in amazement as she pulled the Rover out of her bedroom and dragged it up the stairs to the attic.

' Well, with friends like mine, life's interesting, to say the least...'
