Friendship is strong

"Aang is right. It's all my fault Appa's gone. And I'm going to set everything right by finding him myself." Toph thought as she lie down.It was late at night and Aang, Toph, Katara, and Sokka had followed the sand benders to a shelter where they could spend the night before they were to leave for Ba-Sing-Se. Everyone was supposed to be asleep, but Toph couldn't sleep no matter how hard she tried. She was busy thinking about what Aang had said to her earlier. It was all her fault Appa was gone and now she was going to find him. She silently got out of bed so that she would wake anyone else up. When she got out of the home, though, she felt the presence of someone else.

"Aang…?" Toph asked.

"Toph, what are you doing awake?" Aang's voice answered.

"I have to go find Appa. You were right; it's my fault he's gone."

"No." Aang said forcefully.

"No what?"

"Don't go."

"Why not?" Toph asked, moving to sit down next to her friend.

"I was just thinking… about how I treated you and Katara today. I was wrong, it's not your fault Appa's missing. I mean, the library was sinking and the sand benders were coming and your vision wasn't so sharp and… I'm sorry for getting mad at you." Aang apologized.

"It isn't your fault, you'd just lost the only friend you still have from 100 years ago. You had every right to be angry."

"So, are we still friends?"

"Of course." Toph answered. "Hey Aang."

"For what?" Aang asked, confused.

"Well, you were the first person that I've ever met who hasn't misjudged me or treated me differently because I'm blind. So thanks."

"Your welcome." Aang answered.

"Good morning guys, what are you two doing up this early?" Katara said as she went outside and came up to her friends. When she said that, Aang noticed the sun beginning to rise.

"Couldn't sleep last night." Toph answered shortly.

"Well, since we're all awake, I guess we should start on our way to Ba-Sing-Se." Katara said.

"Sokka's awake?" Aang asked in shock.

"Of course not, but he wouldn't wake up on his own until it was way to late for us to leave. I'm going inside to get him so we can get going."

As Katara went inside to wake her brother up, Aang looked over at Toph and noticed she was smiling and Toph was sure that Aang was smiling too.
