Sara was laying flat on her back, enjoying the gentle sway of the boat in the quiet morning, reflecting that she had never imagined life on the run could be so serene and peaceful. She stretched her sore legs and let her hand travel over Michael's chest to enjoy the feel of his racing heart slowing down under a hand. She sighed happily and grinned to herself.

"If that's how you intend to wish me a happy birthday, I think we should start celebrating non-birthdays too."

"Isn't that what we have been doing?" Michael smirked in turn as he shot her a mock-offended look.

"I guess," she chuckled and turned on her side to face her lover. "I think you missed one last week, though. You owe me, Scofield."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you. Just give me a moment, okay?"

Sara laughed quietly and nestled herself against his chest. The couple rested peacefully next to each other for a few moments, until Michael's smile grew more serious.

"Is this how you thought you'd be spending you're thirtieth birthday?" he asked softly as he traced random pattern on the soft skin of her hip.

"Of course! I always dreamed that I'd one day sail away into the sunset with a tattooed man who had escaped from prison twice," she giggled and pushed his hand away from her ticklish side. "Forget about being a princess, this is much more exciting. We're practically pirates, and they're notoriously cooler."

"Oh no. A couple of toes were enough. Please don't expect me to get a wooden leg too."

"No way. Your legs are just fine," she smiled, giving his lower body an appreciative look.

"I'm sorry I don't have much more to offer you at the moment," he whispered as he leaned to kiss her way down her shoulder.

"You mean, us, right?"

He chuckled at that and raised a hand to gently caress her swollen stomach. "Sorry, I guess I'm still getting used to the idea. Well then, I'm sorry I don't have much more to offer to the both of you. That doesn't sound so much better, does it?"

"It sounds fine to me. We're right where we want to be," she replied with a look she hoped could translate just how happy she was with their current arrangement. "Now, about that non-birthday you forgot to celebrate…"
