On the outside, Jack is carefree. He doesn't care about inane things like love. Doesn't care about personal issues. Doesn't even care about who - or what - he sleeps with, so long as he enjoys himself. He appears to enjoy himself often.

Outside, Jack is narcissistic. He loves himself more than anyone. Loves himself to the point of not caring about how others feel.

Outside, Jack wants no-one. He just wants a night of fun and sex. He wants to show everyone how fantastic a lover he is.

On the outside, Jack is completely different than he is on the inside.

On the outside, Ianto is stoic and unfeeling. He is overtly British, only showing his feelings when he has to. Tight upper lip.

Outside, Ianto is every bit the self-sacrificing 'Hero'. He puts others in front of himself. He loved Lisa enough to put himself in front of a bullet. He loves others to the point of not bothering about his own emotions.

Outside, Ianto wants no-one. He's had his love. Now he wants nothing. He hates it when Jack tries to seduce him.

On the outside, Ianto is completely different than he is on the inside.
