The Trouble With Eavesdropping
"Severus, do you know where I can find Minerva or the Headmaster?" asked an impatient Rolanda Hooch.
"No," he said curtly, "but I dare say where you find one of them, you will most likely find the other as well."
Rolanda made her way through the corridor to Minerva's classroom, hoping to find Albus and Minerva there. A sudden undeniable sound at the door, however, made Rolanda's jaw drop.
"Oh, Albus," she heard Minerva moan from inside the room.
"I think I found them," Rolanda declared quietly to herself, pressing her ear firmly against the crack of the door.
"Right there," Minerva urged. "Yes.."
"It's my turn, Minerva," he said in a low voice.
There was shuffling from within the room.
"Mm, Minerva.. I told you that you were better at this than I am."
"Nonsense," she replied. "You're excellent."
Rolanda placed her hands on her hips, wondering why she had not been previously informed of such behavior. She quickly decided upon taking drastic measures. Covering her eyes with one hand and using the other hand to push open the door, Rolanda burst into the room.
"Pardon me!" she exclaimed, outstretching an arm before her.
Neither Albus nor Minerva spoke, so Rolanda parted her fingers over her eyes to peer through her hands to find Minerva glaring at her fiercely and Albus attempting unsuccessfully to conceal his laughter. They both, however- to Rolanda's utter surprise- were fully clothed, Albus seated in Minerva's teaching chair and Minerva standing just over his shoulder.
"What's going on here?" Rolanda asked, not without a certain air of disappointment.
"What do you think was going on here, Rolanda?" Minerva asked curiously but somewhat viciously.
"I-I thought you were..." Her words faded. "Never mind.."
"Albus was giving me a shoulder massage, as it has been a particularly long, hard day," Minerva said. "Then I thought I would return the favor."
Rolanda nodded blankly.
This is not at all what Rolanda had expected. Minerva glared at her again.
"I guess I'll be going, then," Rolanda said, turning to leave.
"Wait," Albus said. "Did you come here for a reason or by random chance?"
His eyes sparkled with laughter.
"Oh, well.. I forgot. I guess it wasn't very important," Rolanda replied with a shrug.
Minerva nodded. Rolanda turned again and exited the room.
A massage, indeed!
The trouble with eavesdropping, Rolanda reminded herself, is always remembering to have a backup plan and excuse for everything.
A/N:: Ah, I do enjoy tormenting Rolanda Hooch! lol
