Summary: WeeChester! Sam's left alone in a circle of salt. Sam is 4 and Dean is 8

Circle of Trust

Sam sat in the dingy hotel room, hugging himself against the cold of the icy night. He was all alone; as Dean and Daddy had gone out to buy dinner. He wore a simple flannel shirt with dirty torn jeans and thick soled boots. His hair fell messily over his innocent brown eyes in brown bangs. He was all alone; as Dean and Daddy had gone out to buy dinner. Around him was a circle of pure clear white salt. The salt was thick and strong and Sam knew he would be safe in there. He was too young to understand why it kept him safe. But Dean had said if he stayed in it he would be safe, and Dean did always did know best after all he was Sam's big brother.

"Stay in the circle, no matter what you hear, no matter what you see, stay in the circle," Dean had told him. So Sam stayed in the circle, didn't move, didn't even blink, just waited. He heard sounds in the small kitchenette and tensed up. Suddenly his breath turned white in front of him. Sam was scared.

"Sammy, come out and play," came his older brother's voice. Sam calmed down, it was only Dean. Dean was back from the store, Dean was back to tell Sam stories, Dean was back to protect Sam. He stood up and was about to leave the circle when Dean's voice flashed in his mind, "Stay in the circle, no matter what you hear, no matter what you see, stay in the circle,"

Sam sat back down on the floor and curled up into a small little ball. He began to hear eerie noises, whispering that came from no where. The oil lamp that sat on Sam's bedside table next to Daddy's journal began to flicker on and off. The air grew considerably colder and Sam was scared. The light went off and Sam began to cry silently. Where was Daddy? Where was Dean?

Suddenly the light flickered back on. Sam breathed in relief. Then he realised some how he wasn't alone. Something was behind him, breathing down his neck with a hot, meaty breath. He turned his head and gasped. He didn't scream, that was what wussies did according to Dean.

Behind him, stood a grotesque man with half his head missing. Chunks of grizzled gray hair fell over his bloodshot eyes. He wore bloody overalls and was grinning with yellowing teeth in a maniac kind of way.

"You didn't come and play," said the man. Sam blinked in shock, the man sounded just like Dean but it wasn't Dean. Dean wasn't old like Daddy, Dean wasn't ugly like the Frankenstein Monster, and Dean wasn't scary like that clown from the circus in North Dakota, so this wasn't Dean.

Sam wanted to run and hide, but he didn't. "Stay in the circle, no matter what you hear, no matter what you see, stay in the circle," If Dean said he'd be safe in the circle, he'd be safe because Dean would never lie to Sam, never.

"So I'll come and play with you," said the man still sounding like Dean, why Sam didn't know. The man stepped forward but cried out in pain. Sam blinked in shock, the man couldn't enter the circle.

Suddenly the door opened. A gunshot rang through the room, the man vanished when a piece of rock salt made contact with him and a rough voice said, "You okay Sammy?"

Sam turned his head and saw Daddy standing at the door with Dean. Sam nodded and said, "Yes Daddy,"

Daddy smiled, while Dean rushed forward to Sam and went into the salt circle. He grinned and said, "Told you the circle would keep you safe Sammy,"

Sam nodded, "I know.

Because Dean would never lie to Sam, never.
