Author's Note: Hello, this is my first fanfic. It is a one-shot. Post-AWE. Some Sparrabeth. Slight spoilers for the movies. I hope you like it. Please review.

Disclaimer: Does POTC belong to me? If it did, AWE would have a Sparrabeth ending. POTC belongs to Disney.

As he walked, he breathed in the scent of rum and dust that always hung in the air of Tortuga. He had managed to claim his ship back from his mutinous former first mate, but now he needed to restock the supplies before he left in search for the Fountain of Youth.

Cleverly avoiding another welcoming slap from Scarlet and Giselle by sidetracking to a deserted alleyway, he walked even faster. Time was a-wasting, and the sooner he found the Fountain the better. He passed quite a few drunk men slumped against the walls of the alleyway. They looked up at him with faraway, mildly interested eyes as he passed.

He ignored all of them, but suddenly stopped in his tracks when he saw someone different, propped up with her back against the wall. There was something familiar about the honey-blonde hair that almost completely covered her face. She wore a cream-coloured dress, much like the ones Scarlet and Giselle wore, and held an empty rum bottle in one hand.

'Is that… you?'

The young woman pushed the hair out of her face and blinked hard many times before saying slowly, 'We're devils, we're black sheep, we're really bad eggs…' Her voice was slurred but unmistakable.

Drink up, me hearties, yo ho…

'Are you all right, love?'

'I'm fine,' was the vague reply.

'But… what are you doing here?'

'Enjoying myself.'

'I thought you were waiting on that island for the whelp?'

She didn't reply. Instead, she tried to stand up, but failed and slumped down again. Finally she said, 'I came here… because I had… a whole ten years before I had to come back… but… it's more dangerous here than I thought.'

'But why did you come here? To Tortuga?'

'I was curious,' she said, and it seemed as though he was not going to get another rational response from her when she started singing again.

Finally he asked, 'How did you get here?'

She looked up at him with wide eyes. 'Sea turtles,' she said and burst into a fit of maniacal giggles.

A couple of hours later, she was sleeping peacefully in a cabin aboard the Black Pearl. He watched her for a few moments before walking over to the door to leave. Suddenly, she spoke in a soft voice. 'I'm sorry.'

I'm not sorry…

'You don't have any reason to be sorry.'

'All you ever seem to do is save me… and all I do is kill you.'

'I'm alive now. At least I think so. That's all that matters.'

She let out a soft laugh. 'Thankyou.'

'It feels good to have a bed to sleep in, away from Tortuga,' she sighed.

Bloody eunuch, he thought. Letting her do this to herself.

'Good night, Jack,' she said sleepily.

'Good night, Elizabeth,' he replied.

But she was already fast asleep.
