This chapter came out of nowhere. The characters pretty much wrote themselves. i'm guessing that they felt they needed some closure too.

Excuse Errors!

Later the same day...

Inuyasha broke out in a cold sweat when he heard Kagome's footsteps coming up the stairs. He exhaled, hoping to dispel some of his butterflies but it didn't help. He had hoped to be gone before Kagome got home but like always things never went as he planned. "Inuyasha," His head shoot up when Kagome called out his name. She stepped into their bedroom, her arms slowly unfolding from her waist when she stopped and stared at the open bag and plies of clothes on the bed. "What are you doing?"

"I can see that. Where are you going?"

"To Lake Horajima."

"Sounds nice," Kagome said. "It's been awhile since we visited your family's country house."

"I think a getaway would do us good."

"I have saved up enough days so,"

"I can get off work." Kagome carried on saying, ignoring Inuyasha and headed towards the walk-in closet where she kept her own weekend bag. "How long will we be gone?"

"Kagome, there's something-"

"I think three or four days would be good." Inuyasha swallowed thickly as the words he needed to say struggled to come out. "I can't wait to get away."

His lips parted to speak but his voice failed him. "I was supposed to meet Souta tomorrow but I think he will understand if I cancel." Kagome went on, not noticing Inuyasha's anxiety. "I can't seem to find," She stopped and looked around in the closet. "Where did I put it? I thought for sure it was here. Inuyasha, do you know where my bag is?"

"I'm going alone."

Kagome turned around. She stared at him with her brows drew together in a frown. "You what..."

"Theses days have been crazy," Inuyasha rasped and cleared his throat. "I've been thinking about how I've acted. How I have felt and it's not alright."

"It's been tough on both of us."

"'s been more then tough. It's been hell. I...I need a break."

"And you don't think that I need a break too?" Kagome asked, her furrow deepening. "So what? You get to run but I have to stay. Wow..."

"Please. I don't want to do this."

"Do what, Inuyasha? Admit that you changed the moment Kara back?" Inuyasha pressed his lips into a firm line, turning away from her. He didn't want to get into another fight. He didn't have the energy or the time which he noted after a quick glance at his wristwatch. He needed to leave soon if he wanted to reach Lake Horajima before it was too dark.

"I told you, Kagome. I didn't want to get into this so...let it go."

"No. We need to talk. We can fix it." Inuyasha just exhaled heavily, shaking his head. No. They couldn't fix it. There was nothing left to fix. It was already too late. "So that's it? You are just going to give up on us?"

"Why? Because you and your precious fucking Kara won't live happily ever after!?"

Inuyasha shot Kagome a hard glare. "Don't go there. This is has nothing to do with her."

"The hell it does! She's the damn reason we argue all the time," Kagome fired back as a red, angry colour crept up her face. "I knew we would run into problems when Kara came back because, like always, she barks and you come running. Too bad Kara is already taken and doesn't give a fuck about you!"

"Fine! You want to do go there?" Inuyasha snapped. "Yeah, Kara is a part of the reason that I'm leaving but don't act so high and mighty because you have changed too."

"What's that suppose to mean?" Inuyasha clammed up, regretting instantly that he got drawn into a fight. "Inuyasha!"

"You know what? Fuck this. I promised myself I wasn't going to do this but you..." Inuyasha shook his head, gritting his teeth, muttering to himself as he shoved the last of his things into the bag.

"What was that? What did you say?"

"Clearly you got something on your mind so spit it out."

"Leave it, Kagome."

"No. Tell me." Inuyasha focused solely on the task at hand and zipped up his bag when he was done packing. He picked up his bag and threw it onto his shoulder. "I'll call you when I reach Horajima."

"Goodbye, Kagome."

"Inuyasha, please!" Inuyasha started towards the door when Kagome ran towards him. He was only few steps away when Kagome grabbed his arm and spun him around. "Don't walk away from me, Inuyasha!"

"There's nothing left to say."

"Let me go."

"No. Talk to me."

"Fine," Inuyasha sighed exasperated. "I didn't want to say anything."

"Say what?"

"I know what you did."

"What did I do?"

"You changed the paternity test." Kagome's hand dropped from his arm like his touch burned her. "What? Got nothing to say?"

"I-I, what?" Inuyasha stuttered, mimicking her then scoffed, shaking his head. "You've always thought I was stupid but I knew...something in my gut warned me that the answer couldn't be right. That I was Yuki's father."

"But you are!"

"No, I am not. You heard them. I couldn't possible be her dad because we don't share the same blood type."

"We don't know that!"

"Bullshit, Kagome! Somehow you changed it. Don't know how but you did!"

"Damn you, Inuyasha! Why would I do that? Risk my license for something like that?"

"To hurt Kara." Inuyasha answered, his golden eyes boring deeply into her. Kagome couldn't stand it and averted her eyes, confirming his suspicion. "I know you, Kagome. We have been together long enough for me to know when you lie and try to manipulate things. Ever since Kara came back and after the fight, you have been trying to find a way to hurt her and found it. You planted the idea of a paternity-"

"And you loved the idea, didn't you, Inuyasha?" Kagome snorted, shaking her head. She looked back up with tears in her eyes. "When you heard the result you went rushing to Kara and tried to get her back."

"And that's why I need to leave."

"I-I don't understand...why are you leaving me?"

"Because I still love her." Inuyasha winced when Kagome blinked and tears ran down her face.

"No buts Kagome," Inuyasha finally admitted with a sigh. "I love Kara. Too much. The idea of her and me having a baby made me go crazy and I..." Inuyasha sighed again, rubbing a hand over his forehead, searching the words to say.

"It's alright, Inuyasha," Inuyasha looked back up and met Kagome's sad smile. "I have always known...that you love her. But I love you. I still want us."

"No, Kagome. It's not alright. It's not fair to you. You should want more. You deserve more. Not a man who is still in love with someone else. That's why..." Inuyasha paused and licked his lips, needing to say the next words once and for all.

"I think we should break up."

The silence that fell after his words was heavy and Inuyasha saw how Kagome crumbled underneath it, her shoulders dropping.

Inuyasha waited for Kagome to say anything when she didn't and Inuyasha realized there was nothing left to say. He looked away, facing the wall when he adjusted the bag on his shoulder. "I'll move out when I get back."

As Inuyasha walked away from Kagome he waited for the gut-wrenching anguish to slam him in the gut. But there was nothing. Not even a hint. Nothing that resembled the completely downfall he felt when he watched Kara walk away with Sesshoumaru hand in hand.

Instead Inuyasha felt a load get easier and easier with each steps and Inuyasha realized that he had made the right decision.

It was time to walk away.

The muscles in Touga's cheeks ached but he couldn't stop smiling as he stared at the picture with him holding Yuki on his phone. She looked tiny next to his large frame but her smile was wide and bright, matching the spark in her beautiful amber eyes. Touga sighed happily, his heart doing flip-flops in his chest. He was completely taken by Yuki. He hadn't felt this way since Takara entered his life. "She's lovely, isn't she?"

Touga's gaze shifted to the side when Izayoi walked out of the bathroom that was attached to their bedroom before looking back at the picture and felt his smile widen even more. "Yes."

"I'm so glad that you two finally met."

"Me too, Izayoi. She is..." He was lost for words. Yuki was simply beautiful. Touga could see himself and Sayuri in her. Even though her sliver hair was darker, Yuki shared his tawny skin and Sayuri's feline shaped eyes.

"I'm sorry."

"No. Let me finish." She said and sat next to him, the bed dripping to the side. She reached out and placed a hand on his arm. "I need to own up to my part in this. I'm not sorry that I supported Kara but I should've encouraged her to reach out to you and have faith in your love for her because after today...after seen you with Yuki. Oh, hanata the look on your face," Izayoi smiled softly, blinking back the tears. "It was love at the first sight."

Touga ducked his head, a blush creeping across his cheeks. Izayoi lifted her hand and stroked his face. "Forgive me, hanata. Know that I love you. Don't ever doubt that."

"No more secrets, Izayoi. Talk to me. No matter what."

"I promise. No more secrets. Whatever comes we'll face with it together."

"Alright then. Let's forget what's happened and come over here." Izayoi gladly went into her husband's opens arms. She sighed happily when he wrapped them tightly around her and held her close when he fell backwards on the bed.

Touga kissed Izayoi on the forehead, his fingers threading through her hair. "Yuki is an amazing little girl. She reminds me of Kara at that age."

"Hai. She does."

"Do you," Touga said, pausing for a second. "Do you think Kara and Sesshoumaru would like to come over during Christmas? I want to spend some time with Yuki and get to know her."

"I don't know, hanata..."

"I want Sesshoumaru to be okay with it. I mean we haven't spent a Christmas since..." Touga trailed off with a sigh.

Izayou felt her husband tense up and rubbed a soothing hand over his chest, snuggling closer. She knew he was thinking of the past and all the mistakes he done when he didn't reach out to Sesshoumaru sooner.

Izayoi noticed the thinly veiled displeasure moulding Sesshoumaru's features when Touga asked to see Yuki. He didn't want them there and would've gladly slammed the door in their faces if Kara hadn't stepped in and allowed them in.

Kara and Sesshoumaru. It was so strange thinking of them as an item but after today Izayoi saw it. They fitted each other and felt somehow just right. "Let's take one step at the time and rejoice in the fact that we are now grandparents."

"Kami-sama," Touga chuckled. "We are that old, huh? A grandchild. Who would've known..."

"We are not that old." Izaoyi lifted her head and winked. Touga's lips curled upwards when she turned in his arms and leaned up for a kiss. "Let me prove that to you."

Done. See you next time which should be the epilogue :D thanks for reading & reviewing!
