Alex opened the bedroom door and flipped on the light.

She was lying there crying on her Tinker Bell pillow.

Alex walked over and gathered the small dark-haired child in her arms. "What's the matter Jules?"

Blue eyes squinted shut and cried even harder. "Mama got shot."

Alex held her daughter closer. "Oh sweetie. I shouldn't have told you that, should I?" She turned the girl to face her, ice blue met ice blue. "Mama did get shot, but we're going to get through this."

"But it's because of me. Those men were coming after me."

"No, no sweetie. This is not your fault. Do you understand?" She held Juliana close again. "If anything it's mommy's fault. I thought it was over."

Juliana rubbed her eyes and pulled away from her mother. "Are we going to move again mommy?"

Alex nodded. "We have to angel. Maybe somewhere warm this time . . . with a beach."

A spark shot through her little eyes for a millisecond, then was gone. "I just want mama."

Alex tucked a strand of dark brown hair behind the girl's ear. "I know sweetie I do too, but –"

"Hey, why all this crying in here?"

"Mama!" Juliana ran over to her mother and wrapped her arms around her waist.

Olivia bent down to hug her daughter, careful not to stretch her stitches.

Alex gave her 'the look.' "You're supposed to be at the hospital. What are you doing here?"

Olivia rolled her eyes, kissed her daughter and tucked the girl back into bed. "Good night princess."

"Night mama."

Olivia left the room and waited until Alex was out before quietly closing the door.

Olivia rested her head on the door and then slowly turned to face Alex.

"Oh God sweetie, I didn't mean it like that. Please don't cry."

"I just couldn't stay at the hospital. Too many memories. I wanted to be back here with my girls. . . And I didn't want to be putting more stress on you. Not with the twins on the way."

Alex brought a hand to her ever swollen belly. "Olivia, it wouldn't have been all that bad."

"I know, but still. This is where I'd rather be."
