It never mattered that Robin was to marry Marian. It never mattered that she loved him. It didn't even matter that Robin truly loved her in return.

Because he was happy. And nothing else mattered.

It never mattered that Robin's thoughts would drift off when they weren't fighting in the Holy Land. It never mattered that his lips would curve up softly. It didn't even matter that Robin was thinking of Marian.

Because he could bear the fighting that way. And nothing else mattered.

It never mattered that Robin whispered with woman. It never mattered when he flirted with them. It didn't even matter when he kissed them.

Because it kept him in spirits. And nothing else mattered.

It never mattered that Robin's demeanour changed, evidently, for the better when he saw Marian again. It never mattered that he would occasionally just sit and sigh. It didn't even matter that Robin talked about her to him.

Because he was in love. And nothing else mattered.

It only mattered when Marian accepted Guy's proposal. It only mattered when Marian died. It only mattered when Much could see Robin's heart breaking.

Because he wasn't happy. And Much knew, after so many years, that the only thing that mattered to him was Robin's happiness.

End.
