Will Never Die

When you say it's dead and gone
Yes, I know you're wrong...

How did they get to this point? They had been so in love. So happy. So complete. Together they were invincible. Nothing could tear them apart. Not the gossip. Not the rumors. Nothing.

I don't care
If you or me is right or wrong...

Because all that mattered was that they were together. That they loved each other. That they were going to live the rest of their lives together. They didn't care that everyone else said it was wrong. Said he was too old for her. Said it was too weird because he used to be her teacher. Nothing they said mattered. Because to them it was right. So their love was right.

Cut and slash, sharpest knife
It won't die...

So how did they get to this point? Standing in the dark, in the middle of the night, on the path leading out of Konoha.

Staring into her sad, jade eyes he could feel his heart break. He was supposed to be her "one" and she was supposed to be his. What went wrong? What did they do wrong? Should they have listened? Did love really blind them so much that they couldn't see this coming when everyone else did?

Poison cup, drank it up
It won't die...

Kakashi cupped her face in his hands and touched his forehead to hers. She closed her eyes and silently let the tears stream hot down her face. Please don't go, he begged her. Not in words, but in action.

No fire, no gun, no rope, no stone
It won't die...

She cupped her hands around his face as well and kissed him softly on the forehead. They both closed their eyes at the contact, knowing it would be the last time they would ever touch each other. Then her hands slid down from his face and she slowly began to step away from him, ready to slip out of his life forever. He held her gaze, refusing to let her break this last link. Her eyes watered, the tears threatening to spill over once more. But she held them back and turned her back on him. His heart was breaking. His life was shattering. Because she was his life and she was leaving.

She paused, stopping in her tracks. She didn't turn around to face him. Her voice quavered.

"Please don't, Kakashi."

"I love you." He begged.

"I love you, too." She said, then continued to slowly follow the path before her, increasing the distance between them. Increasing the ache in both of their hearts. It had to be done.

Why'd you have to be so mean and cruel...

A firm grip wrapped around her wrist, forcing her to stop, and he was pressed up against her. She tried to break free, but he wouldn't let her. She looked up at him angrily, the tears now freely flowing down her face. He looked down at her with the same flare in his eyes. He was never going to let her leave him and he was never going to leave her. They would always be together. Because their love was too strong to ever truly break. It would never die.

"I. Love. You." He said fiercely.

"And I love you, too." Sakura said softly, surrendering to him mind, body, and soul.

His lips came crashing down upon hers and it was settled.

They would always be together.

Their love would never die.

Even when their bodies did.

Love so good, love so bad
It won't die...
