A/N: This story used to be a part of Snarktastic, which was a series of one-shots. I am posting this on its own for two reasons. One, while it was originally intended to be a drabble, it ballooned into something so large it can stand on its own; and two, posting it separately will make it easier for someone on the look out for certain characters or genres to find it. Snarktastic was originally written during the lull between seasons two and three; therefore all the stories are set somewhere in there.

Prompt: McDork suggested Teyla drunk which meshed with Rodney fending off the advances of a drunken teammate as suggested by eris86.

Rodney McKay brought the fragrant stuff to his nostrils and gave the small stoneware cup a wary whiff. "What is this stuff, anyways?" he asked, eyeing the purple liquid cautiously.

"They call it T'sul Diuqil," Teyla answered him, lifting her own cup and tipping the contents back in one shot.

"It is traditional for us to drink it in celebration of our joining with others in alliance," the leader of the Atlantis expedition's new trading partners answered, drinking the T'sul Diuqil in front of him eagerly.

Rodney looked around himself and saw that both Colonel Sheppard and Ronon had both downed theirs and were looking blissful. Well...it couldn't be anything too bad...

With a slight furrowing of his brow, Rodney gave the drink one more sniff before cautiously taking a sip.

He blinked a few times and then quickly polished off the rest.

"It's like…it's like-" the alcohol hit him quickly, like an abrupt blow to the head, making him instantly dazed and mildly muddled, "It's like coffee and chocolate and…and…and…heavy cream. And tequila! Tequila! Somebody pinch me."

There was an almost girlish giggle from behind him, Rodney's eyes went big and he leapt away as someone goosed him, "Not you, Teyla!"

Oh, how I love playing word games. Can anyone figure out the translation for the term T'sul Diuqil?
