A/N : Keep the reviews coming, I will continue! Have an idea now of where I'm going with this
Harry sighed as he watched the Slytherins fly across the pitch. He was supposed to have tryouts later that day too. He was worried Ron wasn't ready for it but he was so excited to play.
"Professor Snape is here," Hermione pointed high up in the stands across the pitch. "Be careful."
Harry nodded and walked towards the group of Slytherins. There were some younger students, as young as third year to the older ones stepped in front of them when they saw Harry approach.
Harry took a deep breath, "So how are your tryouts going?"
Malfoy rolled his eyes. "You didn't come all the way down here to ask that did you Potter? Here to spy?"
Harry shook his head. "No, of course not. That's not allowed anyway. I'm just trying to be friendly. Can I talk to Lucas for a minute?"
Lucas looked at Harry, studying him with the same piercing eyes he had seen cutting through him for five years in Potions. It was unnerving.
"What do you want, Potter? Anything you want to say to me, can be said here in front of my friends."
Harry looked at the faces glaring back at him and knew Snape was burning a hole in the back of his head at that very moment. He had to be careful. Luckily, he had stayed awake most of the night before planning what to say to Lucas. He just hadded planned on saying it to half of the Slytherins.
"Okay, here it is. I got some bad advice from someone who I thought I knew. And I listened to it blindly. I shouldn't have done that. And I'm sorry. I don't know you and it's totally fine if you hate me and never forgive me but there it is. I'm sorry and if you want, I will never talk to you or look at you ever again." Harry held out his hand for Lucas to shake but Lucas just stared in his eyes, wondering if this was real.
Lucas shook Harry's hand after a tense staring contest and gave him a brief nod. "We won't be friends. I hope you know that."
Harry nodded. "I expected not. I just want you to know, I'll do my best to get the others to stay away too. Sometimes they listen to me, sometimes they don't."
Harry walked away from the group and heard Malfoy holler for them to get back on their brooms. Hermione put her arm through his and gave him a side hug.
"You did a good thing, Harry. Your mum would be proud of you."
Harry snorted. "My dad'll be furious. I don't even know what his deal is. He's always hated Professor Snape. And honestly I probably would have lived Potions if it hadn't been for my dad hating my teacher and telling me about it every damn day."
The pair walked back to their Tower in relative silence. Harry had wanted to see Hagrid, but he was off doing some business for Dumbledore. So back to the common room to wait for their team's turn on the quidditch pitch.
Ron and Seamus were waiting for him in the common room. Ginny was nowhere to be found and Hermione realized she was supposed to be with her in the library.
"I'm going back to the library. Come find me later. Let me know how the tryouts go." Harry nodded and went to watch Ron and Seamus play a game of wizard's chess.
"Where ya been all morning, Harry?" Seamus looked up once he watched his pawn be crushed by Ron's knight.
Harry knew he would have to account for his whereabouts this morning. Should he lie or tell the truth?
"I was with Hermione." Half truth then.
Ron looked up. "What were you doing with her? I thought she wasn't talking to you. She's not talking to me. Neither is Ginny. I need to get her off my back before she writes to Mum."
"We weren't doing anything. We talked and went for a walk, that's it."
"Oh, you were gone a while. I thought you went to see your dad again or something."
Harry shook his head. He didn't think he would be going to see his dad for a while.
"Did you happen to go towards the quidditch pitch? I heard the Slytherins we're having tryouts. I wonder who's going to be on their team this year."
Harry again wondered how much he should say. "Yeah, we were down there for a minute but they were taking a break so we didn't stay or anything. You know, the spy rule and everything. Don't want to be disqualified before tryouts even start. Then we walked over to see Hagrid but he wasn't home."
"Oh yeah, I heard he's got some more dragon eggs or something. He had to go to Romania to the colony." Seamus moved his queen in direct sight of Ron's bishop even though she didn't want to go.
"You should listen to your queen, Seamus. Checkmate!" Ron took the queen and won the game. "I think that's lunchtime, boys." Ron and Seamus cleared their game and stood to go to lunch.
"Are ya comin, Harry?"
"Yeah, I'm coming. You know, I'll meet you there. I have to get something." He ran upstairs to this sixth year dorm and fished around in his trunk for a few moments. He sighed, "Accio potions book." Thankfully the right book came to him. Sometimes that spell didn't always work for him Itas a book his mother had given him when he was a child. Tiny Potions for Tiny Tots. He had loved it when he was little. He had wanted to be a Master of Potions until his dad found out.
