Disclaimer: I don't own Flame of Recca.
I have no beta-reader. Any grammatical and spelling errors are mine.
This fanfiction had nothing to do with the movie of nearly the same title. And I don't own it too, just to be on the safe side. Do enjoy it please, though it is really short.
This one's for my best friend for 9 years (and counting…). Thanks for always being there. Wo Ai Ni.
Pursuit of Happiness
"I'm getting married."
The wind howled outside the two-storey apartment. Rain pelted against the windows; the night was cold… so cold.
"You didn't seem to hear me?" She inquired as she slowly made her way towards him. "I said I'm getting married." She repeated.
Ice blue eyes met dark blue ones solemnly. "I heard you." He replied in a voice barely above whisper, that she had to strain her ears to hear them. She bit her lower lip. It sounded cold. Too cold from the voice she has gotten used to.
"It will be 2 months from now. A garden wedding…." She stopped speaking. She seemed reluctant to continue.
He stared at her with piercing eyes. "Isn't that what you always wanted?" He asked sarcastically.
She turned away from him, unable to meet his gaze. "Why don't you turn the lights on? It's too dark for you to work here." She suggested trying to lighten the tension between them. She looked around for the switch and was about to flick it on when his voice cut across the room.
"Leave it be!"
"I said leave it be!" He barked.
He changed… again. Just when she thought she finally melted the ice; he reverted back into being one.
To a much colder one than before.
It hurts her.
That he can be so distant from her. That he can be so cold to her.
She felt the tears sting her eyes. But she would not cry. No she would not. She can't. She just can't.
"I'm leaving now. Just please, attend my wedding. It would mean so much to me…" Her voice trailed off.
"I don't care Kirisawa." He rudely cut her off.
Kirisawa Fuuko stiffened from where she was standing. Her dark blue eyes hardened suddenly. "I see. Well of course you don't. How to stupid of me to think that you do."
She turned on her heel and started towards the door. Before she made her way out, she turned around to give him one last look. "You never did care, ne?"
The sound of the door closing reverberated throughout the room.
To Mikagami Tokiya, it was the sound that indicated the end of everything.
-To Be Continued-
I told you it was short. Oh well, mind you, this will be a chaptered fic.
And I do have plans to continue my other fics. Just please bear with me. Thanks again.
