Angels Fall First

He gently stroked her hair, her beautiful brown locks… he admired her lips so red that they resembled his gentle roses and yet so cold, so icy cold…

An angel face smiles to me
Under a headline of tragedy
That smile used to give me warmth…

He couldn't, wouldn't say goodbye, it was too soon… but faith had other plans. She ripped her away from him, shredding his heart into tiny pieces… Erik looked at her again… so beautiful yet so frail even in death…

Farewell - no words to say
beside the cross on your grave
and those forever burning candles

Why couldn't life be fair with him… once only once… he desired happiness and when he finally had it, the cruelty of life came crashing down on his weak soul… for she was lost and forever shall be until the day dissolved into shadow and the time for demons to die shall came…

Needed elsewhere
to remind us of the shortness of our time
Tears laid for them
Tears of love, tears of fear
Bury my dreams, dig up my sorrows

Tears… tears of sorrow, sorrow beyond imagination were streaming down his face, streamed on the hard porcelain mask which she hated so much… but she died why would he care anymore? God once more denied him the right that any mortal had… the right to love…

Oh, Lord why
the angels fall first?

He never knew why he should put his hopes in a superior being when hope can be so easily tarred apart, love so easily corrupted, life so easily brought to an end. He never believed for not once he has been given to reason to believe… yet there was a moment after she came into his life, when he was indeed foolish enough to think life was meant to be lived…Now he knew better…

Not relieved by thoughts of Shangri-La
Nor enlightened by lessons of Christ
I'll never understand the meaning of the right
Ignorance lead me into the light.

He knew that time was short, but never once he thought it would be her time… now he sat near her coffin watching her pale face, remembering her swan voice and crying for even though he dwelled in the shadows he was indeed a man with a heart that was bleeding…

Needed elsewhere
to remind us of the shortness of our time
Tears laid for them
Tears of love, tears of fear
Bury my dreams, dig up my sorrows
Oh, Lord why
the angels fall first?

He felt the darkness which claimed its right over him… as he sat next to her cold coffin; he desperately wanted to remember her voice singing to the sky, making angels weep in their Heaven… He laid on the cold, hard rock remembering…remembering and learning how to say goodbye…

Sing me a song
of your beauty
of your kingdom
Let the melodies of your harps
caress those whom we still need.

She was calling now to him, begging him to come to her, her lips so red, her voice so sweet… He reached towards her and took her delicate hand, embraced her and knew no more… perhaps there was some fairness in the word…but why do the angels fall first?
