Beast Boy stood on the roof, staring out into the sunset. Reflection wasn't usually his style, much preferring to live in the moment, but he found himself thinking now.

I was born long ago
I am the chosen, I'm the one

He thought back to his childhood, and what it had been like. He smiled to himself, remembering the good times, the adventures he had had in the jungles of Africa with his parents. His smile turned wistful as he remembered the events that had singled him out; the attack by the green monkey, and the miraculous cure that gave him his powers.

I have come to save the day
And I won't leave until I'm done

He thought of the many homes he had had, with his parents, with King Tawaba, albeit briefly, with the two thieves, with Galtry, with the Doom Patrol, and with the Titans. Some had been good homes, some had not. However, all had moulded him into the young man he now was: a superhero, sworn to protect others.

So that's why we've got to try
We've got to breathe and have some fun

However, just because he had a serious duty, this didn't mean his life had to be devoid of entertainment. Far from it, his job to him seemed more like a game at times than anything else. A shame many others on his team did not share this view.

Though I'm not paid I play this game
And I won't stop until I'm done

In fact, only Starfire and occasionally Cyborg seemed to share his philosophy: life should be fun or it's not worth living. His constant attempts to make Raven see this had gone unrewarded, but, undeterred, he had soldiered on.

(But what I really want to know is)
Are you gonna go my way
(Please baby) and I got to (please) got to know (I got to know) yeah

I don't know why we always cry
This we must leave and get undone

That said, his life had hardly been strewn with rose petals. In fact, very little of his life had been what most people would call fun.

We must engage and rearrange
And turn this planet back to one

So he'd found his own sources of enjoyment. He'd caught himself just staring at a tree before now, lost in his head as he wondered about the tree, when it had been planted, how many animals it had provided food and shelter for, how many people hat sat beneath its branches…

So tell me why we got to die
And kill each other one by one

And so he had let the pain just wash by him, witnessing horrors that would have warped another, and remaining whole, because he felt that things only mattered if you let them.

We've got to hug and rub-a-dub
We've got to dance and be in

And then she came, and suddenly he found someone he really wanted to show the world to, someone to share in his wonder at creation, his fascination with the everyday; and her rebuttals only stiffened his resolve. He felt she had had precious little fun in her life, and he wanted to remedy that.

(But what I really wanna know is)
Are you gonna go my way
(Please baby) and I got to, got to know (I got to know)

Beast Boy shook himself out of his reverie and, still smiling, turned to the pale young woman beside him, and prepared to ask one of the most important questions of his life.

Are you gonna go my way
'Cause baby I got to know, yeah

He wasn't sure what the future held, but he was damn sure it was going to be fun.

Not too sure about this one, it seems a little disjointed to me. However, I wanted to do a songfic, and there aren't many "happy" songfics out there. The song, by the way, is "Are You Gonna Go My Way", by Lenny Kravitz. Please review and tell me what I did wrong!
