Sometimes he wondered if he'd made the right choice.

Of course he loved his Lucy. He'd killed for her, hadn't he? That must prove something –that you're raving mad, maybe – must mean something.

But poor, dear Mrs. Lovett. All cooked up, like the meat in her pies. Yes, she had betrayed him. Lied to him. But she understood him. Understood in ways Lucy never could.

But to be fair, Lucy didn't understand much of anything anymore.
