He dreams of cows and moons, and of dogs, dishes and spoons,

Hey Diddle Diddle,
The Cat played the Fiddle

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you wake up and everything is so freaky, that you just know it's another dream?

I've had plenty of those, but never one this weird.

And I know it's a dream, because when have I ever been willing to wear a dog costume? The one time I did wear one, it was by force after losing a bet.

Totally unwilling.

Yet here I stood, wearing a dog suit, and next to Kaiba of all people.

And he was dressed as a moon.

All kinds of freaky, I think.

And that's not the end of it. Over on his other side, was Yuugi in a cow suit. I don't think Yuugi'd ever wear one of those even if it killed him.

Anzu and Shizuka as eating utensils was kinda weird too, you know? Shizuka was a spoon, and Anzu was a dish.

Ryou as a fiddle, that was hard to see, but his spirit is so catlike already, his cat suit wasn't a far leap from reality.

...It reminded me of a nursery rhyme, I knew when I was a kid, actually. How did it go again? ...The cat and the fiddle, and a cow on the moon?

And the cow jumped over the moon.

There was a spotlight, over in the corner, and it suddenly moved onto Ryou and that spirit of his, and suddenly I heard a fiddle. The cat played the fiddle?

And then there was that light again, and Yuugi was jumping over Kaiba's head, and he'd made it. I didn't know the kid could jump that high!

And suddenly I'm pointing and laughing at them, and in the back of my head, I can hear it.

The little dog laughed to see such fun

I'm no dog, mister!, I want to yell, but I don't because there's my little sis, grabbing Anzu's hand and they're running away offstage together, and somehow I know whatever's going on has just ended.

And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Joey's eyes flew open, and he sat up, frowning to himself as he took in his surroundings.

The nursery at the local hospital, where he'd volunteered to help out with the younger kids, kids who were scared and didn't know they were never going home.

The moon was shining in the window, and he was holding a book, which he must have fallen asleep reading.

He glanced at the title.

The Cow Jumped Over The Moon.

Not as bad as the first ten tries, but I still hate it. .-.
