Title: Check Mate
Characters/Pairings: House/Wilson (friendship). House/Cameron.
Word Count: 342
Summary: Just a fun little ficlet - a conversation between House and Wilson. No spoilers.
Disclaimer: I don't own 'House MD' or any of the characters in this fic, just playing in the sandpit.
A/N: I wrote this in a grand total of 20 minutes. There's probably gonna be mistakes. As I said, just a bit of fun. :-)
"'Like, oh my god, House and Cameron are like totally going out,'" House mocked his friend's reaction in a high-pitched voice (along with the appropriate high school girl impersonations, of course). "What are you? A fangirl?" He said, returning to his usual sarcastic tone.
"A fan…what?" Wilson asked in confusion.
"Oh JimmyBoy, modern pop culture is completely lost on you, isn't it? Yes, Cameron and I are…doing whatever it is that we're doing…but stick your nose out of it unless you want it broken." House snarked, "It's your go by the way, just in case you forgot with all the squeeeee-ing that's been going on inside your head."
"Squeeeee?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Don't deny it Wilson. You've got that ridiculous grin on your face, and I doubt it's because you're losing at chess. Which, by the way, is your go." House said, starting to loose his patience.
"Fine. I'll go!" He replied, rolling his eyes, before moving his knight a couple of spaces.
"Do you even know how to play chess?" House asked, looking down at his friend's illegal move.
"Yes, look, I just moved my knight…oh, that's my bishop. I can't do that then, can I?"
"That would be a no." He replied, pushing Wilson's piece back to the right place with a little more force than necessary.
"So, how long have you two been dating?" Wilson asked conversationally a few moments later, moving one of his pawns.
"I really wouldn't advise starting this conversation." He replied, moving one of his own pieces.
"Why's that?" His friend said distractedly, pushing yet another chess figure forward.
"Because you're a fangirl." House said without a beat, moving his queen a few squares forward.
"Are you ever going to tell me what that means?" Again, Wilson moved a piece.
"It means that you get distracted very easily when we start talking about me and Cameron and it means I get to do this…", and with that, House moved his remaining bishop two spaces towards Wilson's king. "Check mate."
