Promise

Umm... random plot bunny attack, thingy... Just a short little thing. So, um, characters aren't mine. Enjoy!

Wyatt Cain only had one request before he left on his mission to map the O.Z. in its entirety. It was a job that would take an unknown amount of annuals alone, and, with having to disband any troops of renegade longcoats, it would take even longer. But, it had to be done.

His one request was for Ambrose, who was rarely seen anymore. The inventor spent most of his days locked up in his lab, unless one of the Royal Family, or, as often was the case, Cain himself, physically dragged him out. But, that wasn't what his demand entailed.

"Promise you'll never forget me, because if I thought you would, I'd never leave." He told the other man, while the two of them were walking the halls after dinner the night before Cain would leave.

Ambrose's head dropped, absorbing that statement for a moment before he replied. "I… I promise, Cain."

"Glitch…" He didn't care if Ambrose glared at him for calling him that, not right now. He grabbed the inventor's arm, and turned him around.

"Wha-?" Ambrose's protests were silenced abruptly as the tin man pressed his lips against his, the soft kiss lasting only a brief moment before Cain pulled away.

By the time Ambrose had all of his synapses firing correctly again, Cain was at the end of the hall. "Goodbye, sweetheart."

Just a note: the 'promise me you'll never forget me...' line is from Winnie The Pooh, and does not belong to me either, it simply inspired this. That is all.
