Fandom: 'Flowers in the Attic'
Characters: Cory; Carrie and Christopher (Daddy) are mentioned
Prompt: 034. Not Enough.
Word Count: 203
Summary: Cory has died, and his voice has thus been silenced. But he has more to whisper in one tiny ear, more songs to coax his twin from nightmares to dreams. Things he needs to tell her, just for her to know. If only she could hear him, but it just isn't so.
Note: This is very much written in a song rhythm, a poetic style. As Cory was a musician in his short years, I thought it was how his knowledge might pour out. Incorrect grammar is used purposefully. Consider his age as I have, and hopefully you'll be able to enjoy this piece for what it is... a piece of little Cory. The still water that runs deep.
I am a yellow crayon. I can finally see the sun. Here there are green fields where me and Daddy skip and run. Here there are trees where me and Daddy share the shade. There are no more shadows to kill what God made.
Real flowers bloom, not just joined in chalk circles. They flutter wildly as I kick high in my swing. God took the grass to heaven, but it's still the real thing. I can touch it -- it's so green and it's as soft as your hair. Sometimes it tricks my fingers into thinking you're there.
Carrie, I love you. I want you to know I'm okay. I'm happy here, and not alone. I'll wait in the breeze for you to join me one day.
Can you hear my music, every song note brand new? When I play my songs, I sing them for you.
Hurry up, Carrie. Get through all the pain. Me and Daddy can't wait to see you again. Give me a second; I'll try to pull down the sky. Just put your hands up, God will help you fly.
Heaven is always singing. I like it here, it's true. But heaven just isn't enough without you.
