Sano headed to the dojo with the hopes of scoring a free lunch. "Only if Kaoru didn't cook it. Ugh…I'm still recovering from her last disaster in the kitchen." He muttered to himself, rubbing his belly. He made it to the gate a few minutes later and pushed it open to step inside. The yard was deserted.

"Weird. Where are Kenshin, Jou-chan and Yahiko?" he asked himself. Shrugging, he walked to the main building and peeked into a few rooms. Empty. Suddenly, he heard something. Frowning slightly, he walked in the direction of the sound. As he got closer, he could make out a voice. He stopped a few feet away from Kenshin's room and strained to hear.

"You are so beautiful. I love you…." His eyes widened. "…the most important thing in my life…when I thought I had lost you, everything stopped…" And he broke into a grin. "YATTA! Yes! Go Kenshin!" He cheered silently. He swiftly turned to leave and ran right into Kaoru. "Jou-chan??!!" He hissed.

She nodded and looked at him quizzically. "Sano? What's wrong?" He grabbed her shoulders and tried to pull her away from the door. "N…nothing! C'mon, I'm hungry and I'd love some of your cooking!" She frowned and raised a hand to feel his forehead. "Are you okay?" He nodded and tried to pull her away before she heard anything. Too late, Kenshin's voice drifted towards them. "I love you so much…."

Kaoru turned white and then red. A vein popped out on her forehead. "Sano…" she whispered, her voice dangerously soft. "Who is in there with him?" He shook his head, hands raising defensively. "I don't know…I thought it was you!" She stood before him, head bowed, hands clenching and unclenching.

"He…he….he WILL DIE!" She shrieked and ran to the door. Throwing it open, she leaped inside the room, prepared to kill if necessary. Kenshin sat on the floor, his sword in his lap. A rag in his hand showed that he had been polishing it. He was alone.

Sano heard his friend's startled ORO? Of surprise and cautiously made his way to see what was going on.

"Damn," he said as he watched Kaoru beat the unsuspecting Rurouni into the ground. "He really likes that sword."
