I recently became determined to write a drabble. As a writer of epic fanfiction, I have always had respect for writers who can do drabbles, but the skill elludes me. What I ended up with was a body of ficlets mostly too long for drabble-length but shorter than even the usual length of my rare short fics. Some are connected to my Rediscovered Hearts AU and some are just random. So I'm just going to post each one separately because there's no rhyme or reason to them so it doesn't make sense to do a "collection".

Vala's idea of cooking a family dinner was to go to Boston Market. Her definition of slaving over said family dinner was having to stand in line for twenty minutes. The odd thing was, she would then serve Boston Market on the good dishes, and she didn't complain about having to clean up the mess. Daniel figured, if dinner came out of paper bags, it was just as well to serve it on paper plates. It took him a while to understand what was going on. Having "good dishes," or even having dishes at all was a luxury for her. Not a financial luxury, really. Except for the first year or so after the Tok'ra had freed her from Qetesh, most of Vala's adult life had been one of relative monetary comfort. She made sure of that. That life had also been disposable. Possessions came and went as she moved from one world to the next, one job to the next, even one life to the next. These dishes were hers. They said something about her life here, about her choices, about how much she had changed. She liked to use them. She just didn't happen to like cooking.
