I recently became determined to write a drabble. As a writer of epic fanfiction, I have always had respect for writers who can do drabbles, but the skill elludes me. What I ended up with was a body of ficlets mostly too long for drabble-length but shorter than even the usual length of my rare short fics. Some are connected to my Rediscovered Hearts AU and some are just random. So I'm just going to post each one separately because there's no rhyme or reason to them so it doesn't make sense to do a "collection".

Vala On Rapunzel

"I don't get it," Vala frowned.

"Don't get what? It's a fairy tale. Like Beauty and the Beast," Daniel said.

"I know. But I don't get it," she told him.

"What don't you get?" he asked.

"Well, it doesn't make sense. Wouldn't his weight have hurt too much for him to climb all the way up there?" she asked.

"Probably. You're just not supposed to think about that."

"Well, that's foolish."

He shrugged. "Today we call it 'suspension of disbelief.'"

"I can't suspend my disbelief that far," she shook her head.

"But you can suspend it far enough to believe a guy from Krypton would come to Earth in a spaceship as a baby, be raised by farmers, and then grow up to fly around fighting crime with his underwear on outside his pants. Wearing tights. And nobody thinks he's crazy," Daniel raised an eyebrow.

"Superman is different!"

"Why?" he challenged.

"He just is! Anyway. Why did she just sit around in the tower for so long waiting for the prince to come and rescue her?"

"Well, what else was she supposed to do?"

Vala huffed. "She could have at least tried to escape on her own."

"Well, Rapunzel wasn't exactly liberated," Daniel chuckled.

"I don't want you to read this one to Manda."

"Come on, Vala it's just a story," he sighed.

"Yes, and if I catch you filling my daughter's head full of this kind of story, I'll lock you in a tower!"

"Go ahead. It'd probably be safer."
