I recently became determined to write a drabble. As a writer of epic fanfiction, I have always had respect for writers who can do drabbles, but the skill elludes me. What I ended up with was a body of ficlets mostly too long for drabble-length but shorter than even the usual length of my rare short fics. Some are connected to my Rediscovered Hearts AU and some are just random. So I'm just going to post each one separately because there's no rhyme or reason to them so it doesn't make sense to do a "collection".

Ask Teal'c

"How does he light those candles?" Jack asked, leaning his elbow on the commissary table.

"Huh?" Daniel's brow furrowed.

"The candles," Jack waved his hand. "You know. For Kel'no'reem. You ever wonder?"

"Why not?"

"Because I know."

"Well, how does he light them, Daniel? I've never seen a match in his room."

"You've searched Teal'c's room?" Daniel raised his eyebrows.

"No. But I've been in there enough. I've never seen a matchbook," Jack said.

"Maybe you should ask Teal'c," suggested Daniel.

"Maybe you should tell me," Jack said.

"He's got a lighter collection."

"He has people pick them up for him off base."

"He does not!"

"Jack, he's got a box full in his closet. Some of them have pictures and some of them are those novelty lighters."

"He does not!"

"He does so."

"Why hasn't he ever showed it to me, Daniel?"

"I don't know, Jack. Why don't you go ask Teal'c?"

Jack frowned and crossed his arms, considering. After a long pause, he asked, "Does he have a hula girl?"

"I don't know. Why don't you ask Teal'c?" replied Daniel in the same bland tone.

"I think I'm gonna go ask Teal'c," Jack nodded.
