Fired Up

Sky High belongs to Disney, and The Covenant belongs to a huge soulless company that is not me. I didn't ask to use them, but I respect their creators greatly. (Mostly. The jury's still out on Sarah.)

"What the - ? Warren?"

Caleb Danvers paused at the hand that grabbed his arm, and turned to look at a younger new transfer student, still awkward in a new-looking uniform. The boy had curly brown hair and big, innocent blue eyes, confusion radiating from them. "Excuse me?"

The boy faltered. "Not Warren?"

Caleb's brows furrowed. "I'm sorry, are you looking for someone?"

Flushing, the other tugged his hand back, fumbling. "I'm sorry, you just looked exactly like someone I knew..."

"Uh-huh." Caleb frowned. "And you are...?"

"Will Stronghold." He muttered, face burning.

"Caleb Danvers." He said firmly, taking the other's still faltering hand and shaking it firmly. "I assume you're new?"

Will nodded. "I... I just transferred. Turns out grandpa could see me now, and thought my education wasn't well-rounded enough. So... Spenser it is."

"Well." Caleb shifted his armload of books. "I hope you like it here. I've got..."

"Hey, Caleb!" Pogue leaned out of the classroom, and smacked his friend's arm. "Coming?"

Will's jaw dropped as he stared at Pogue.

"Hey," Pogue smirked. "Who's the new kid?"

"Will Stronghold," Caleb answered, motioning to the boy. "Will, Pogue Parry."

"Hi." Will squeaked, staring at the arm Pogue had thrown around Caleb's shoulders.

"Caleb!" Reid's blonde head poked out of the doorway, grinning. "Hey, come on, you're gonna be late, and the teach'll be pissed."

Will started to back up, shaking his head slowly.

"What's wrong?" Caleb asked, frowning.

"You have a friend with purple hair, don't you?" Will said quickly, eyes wide. "And another who's a complete geek."

"Ah..." Caleb glanced at Pogue. "Well, Reid did dye Tyler's hair purple that one time they were drunk and trying to go for blue..."

Will turned on his heel, and ran pell mell down the hallway.

The three boys stared after him, eyes wide.

"What the hell was that about?" Pogue gaped.

"I dunno." Caleb shrugged. "But I have the strangest desire to light him on fire."
