Oh, and I don't own Eyeshield 21.
It has been four years since Youichi and Mamori got married.
But every detail remains fresh in her memory. She remembers how they had a huge fight because she wanted a wedding. Youichi didn't believe in that 'fucking nonsense.'
The argument lasted for days -- only to end up in a beautiful wedding, at least, in Mamori's eyes it was beautiful.
Several close people were invited. However, many gatecrashed - adding to Youichi's annoyance.
She remembers too how he stood there, impatiently, waiting for the kiss to commence, but he had been good.
He endured the entire ritual for Mamori's sake. Of course, he just had to have a long, long kiss...as a reward.
The memory of that day still makes her blush. Now, news arrived that Sena and Suzuna would be married too. Naturally, both Youichi and Mamori were invited.
But what surprised her, and perhaps all the other guests, was that he was invited to be a guest speaker at the wedding!
"Youichi-kun, you have to prepare a speech for that event."
"No need, I'll fuckin say what I want on that day."
Secretly, she just wanted to proof-read or rather, take out the curses from his speech - if that was at all possible.
"But a lot of people will be there!"
"And you think I'd fucking care?"
"Well... no... Regardless, Youichi, will you promise no cursing?"
He stared at her incredulously.
Mamori simply sighed, dismayed at his reply.
Like all arguments, this went on and on. Eventually pausing for the little sweet moments the couple shared - like taking care of their child, sharing a bath and well, obviously, making love -- anywhere.
The date of Sena and Suzuna's wedding was at hand at last, and still they haven't settled the argument.
Mamori was losing hope. And then before she knew it, he was there on the podium.
"Oh god. Please." she whispered.
Silence. Everyone was in rapt attention - waiting for 'something' to happen.
"Congratulations fucking shrimp, you're finally getting married."
One curse down...
"Well, don't expect a god-damn easy life."
There goes another one...
"And don't be fooled by all this ritual shit."
There has to be a curse in every line huh?
"This ain't marriage... It's just the beginning."
Hiruma paused and stared intently at Sena.
"There are times when you have to sleep on the fucking couch. "
As you have, Youichi-kun.
"And times when you have to fucking get up in the middle of the night because your damn woman wants something."
Is he talking about me?
"And when you finally got 'that thing', she doesn't fucking want it anymore."
Oh, this was when I was pregnant.
"Believe me, there will be times when you will slip at the side of the cake...But that's okay. Just hang in there. Nobody said marriage was easy -- " This time, he looked at Mamori. "-- but I tell you, it's fucking worth it."
"So uhh... cheers to you both... and Sena, may you suffer more injuries than me."
Youichi strode back to his seat beside Mamori, who hugged him.
"And that was for?" he barked.
"Nothing." she smiled.
She had blushed at the last part of his speech. For when he looked at her, she knew, the message had been meant for her too.
And she just hugged him, for the simple yet surprising gestures he made to make her feel special - even after four years.
