Ellen and Bobby stand over the small fire and look at the destruction around them.

There was nothing they could do. Not anymore.

Those brothers were a long way gone.

Dean's year was up and Sam wept.

"Don't cry for me, baby," Dean smile tiredly, wiped away Sam's tears. Sam said nothing, just buried his face deeper into his brother's neck. "Don't be sad."

"You know better than that," Sam choked out.

Dean chuckled and glanced at the clock on the nightstand. 11:59 p.m. Time was so cruel.

"Just take care of yourself," Dean said, closing his eyes, something was tugging at him.

"I'll see you soon, Dean," Sam promised his dead brother.

Dean's year was up and Sam let loose a cry of pain and heartache and rage.

And the earth began to tremble.

Dean's year was up and Sam stormed the gates of hell to get him back.

Sam was met by the demon woman, Dean's soul struggling against its fiery chains.

"Give him back to me," Sam demanded, his emerald eyes lit with fury. "Give me back my brother!" The ground began to quake and the rocks rattled and rose into the air.

And the demon knew that she was no match against this human. But Sam was not just any human, he was a Winchester and a Hunter down to his very core. He could search out his brother's location just as a wolf does it's mate.

So all she could do was nod silently and back away.

And Dean was returned.

Dean's year was up.

Sam wept and the earth trembled.

Dean's year was up and he was dead and gone.

So Sam stormed Hell itself and retrieved what was his by birthright and, with Dean at his side, destroyed the world to build a new one. They built a world of fire and brimstone and death and destruction and hate and monsters in the night.

It was the world they themselves had always known, it was their revenge on Innocence and Purity.
