Raining on Sunday
Draco lay awake in bed, listening to the sound of the storm outside. Hermione had him in a death grip, and he didn't want to wake her, so he stayed still. At that moment however, it turned out that his meditative silence meant nothing, because there was a quiet rustling right outside the door.
"Hermione, love," he whispered, shaking her gently.
"Mrrhsghhmmmmsnd," she said, burying her head in his shoulder.
"I think we have visitors," he told her, as their son and daughter peeked their heads into the room.
"Daddy?" Scorpius whispered.
"Come in," Draco waved them in with a smile.
Both children came in carrying trays. Scorpius had one full of orange and apple juice, while Demeter was in charge of the pancakes and apples. Hermione, finally awake, smiled as Scorpius climbed onto the bed. He set his tray down next to Draco, and then took his sister's tray so she could climb up as well.
"We made breakfast," he smiled.
"Should I ask how you managed pancakes without us there?" Draco asked.
"Ummm," the nine year old boy looked down, "Well, I did keep Demeter away from the stove at least…"
Draco simply rolled his eyes and looked at the pancakes. They actually looked pretty good, but he was still a bit unsure of his son's culinary abilities.
"Were you two planning on feeding the entire country as well?" Hermione smiled, taking a pancake off of the top of a very large stack.
"We messed up with the first measurement," Scorpius blushed, "so we had to double everything else."
Draco laughed and took a bite out of his pancake.
"These are great!" he said, and he meant it too, "Come on, let's eat."
"Mommy! Scorpius is bumping me with his pillow!" Demeter whinged.
"Pillow fight!" Draco yelled over the thunder, bopping Hermione over the head. He figured he might as well go with it, if it would head off any sibling squabbles. An all out pillow war started when Demeter chucked hers at his head, defending her mother of course…
"What do you guys want for dinner?" Hermione asked, getting out of bed.
"Dunno," Draco shrugged, "What do you two want?"
"Hot cocoa and animal crackers!" the six year old shouted.
"Okay," Hermione shrugged, and then smiled when she saw Scorpius give his sister a high five…
Draco smiled at his two kids. Both were sound asleep between him and Hermione.
"You realize we spent the entire day in bed, yes?" he whispered.
"Yes," Hermione smiled, "But it was fun."
"And I think Scorpius has a future in cooking…"
Pray that it's raining on Sunday
Stormin' like crazy
We'll hide under the covers all afternoon
Baby whatever comes Monday
Can take care of itself
'Cause we got better things that we could do
When it's raining on Sunday
