Year of the Spark: May 6th
We, the Sparky Army, decree 2008 to be the Year of the Spark. We pledge to post a new sparky story or chapter of a sparky story every day from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Though the Powers that Be have removed Elizabeth Weir from the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis, we feel that she remains an integral part of the show, and that the relationship between her and John Sheppard is too obvious to be ignored. We hope that you, and anyone might happen to read these works, agree.
And if that isn't official enough for you, we don't know what is. Seriously, guys, we're just trying to have some fun--and show TPTB that Sparky is the way to go. So sit back and enjoy the 366 stories coming your way!

Summary: John and Elizabeth have a moment.
He'd only come into her office for a report, that's all he'd planned on doing till he turned in for the night. Just hand in the report and go, but of course John knew well that not everything went as planned… especially when they involved his plans.
He wasn't all that surprised by what he'd saw. After all, Carson Beckett had died yesterday, and it seemed that many were upset, Teyla certainly had been. Rodney hadn't been in very good spirits either. He knew Elizabeth had been good friends with Carson, since before Atlantis. He'd expected her to be pretty upset about it, but he'd never expected to see her cry. Elizabeth looked up, a tear dripped on her laptop just before she wiped her eyes. "John, hey," she greeted, trying to gain back some control.
John wasn't exactly sure what to do, he wasn't good at consoling people, he never knew what to say. Still, this was Elizabeth, his leader and his friend; he couldn't just pretend he hadn't watched her cry. "Your eyes are red," he whispered softly.
Elizabeth tried to smile before she looked back at the laptop, slowly turning it around. "In Carson's will he included some letters to friends and family. I was just…" Elizabeth never finished the sentence.
"Oh yeah, what'd he say?"
Elizabeth smiled. "He told me to get a life."
John laughed, shaking his head. "Can't argue with him there."
"He told me not to take life for granted, especially since we live on Atlantis of all places. He told me to eat my meals and get plenty of rest... and he wanted to make sure I'd be taken care of when he was gone."
John looked her in the eyes, his smile fading. "He had nothing to worry about, that's what I'm here for… don't worry, Elizabeth… I'll take care of you," he whispered to her, so low even he wasn't sure he'd said the words allowed.
Elizabeth stared at him for a while, a strange look on her face. "I know, John."
John laid his hand on hers, taking it and holding it tight. "I-"
"Oh Elizabeth, I was looking for you!" said McKay as he walked into her office.
Elizabeth immediately pulled her hand away from John's. "Yes Rodney, what can I do for you?"
Sheppard wasn't exactly sure what had just happened. All he really knew was he'd never been so pissed with Rodney in his life. He certainly had great timing! John quickly left the report on Doctor Weir's desk and after saying good night to both her and Rodney, he took his leave. He hadn't been lying, he would take care of her… with Carson gone, someone would have to, and he was more than happy to be that person… he especially didn't mind helping her get that life Carson encouraged her to have. Oh yeah, he had big plans. John shook his head and laughed.
