This Isn't what it Looks Like
"Look this will only take a minute," Beth assured her niece, leading her down the hallway of Mick's building. "I just need to give Mick this stuff—it's for a case he's working on," Tobie rolled her eyes.
"You don't need to come up with anymore excuses," the 17-year-old laughed. "If you just wanted to see your boyfriend, all you have to do is give me an apartment key, a metro pass, and I'm good to go,"
"Yeah, and your parents would kill me," Beth shook her head, knocking on Mick's door. No answer. She knocked again. Tobie rolled her eyes again.
"If you have a spare, why don't you just use it?" She asked. "It makes sense; it's why he gave it to you, isn't it? So you could barge in whenever you feel like it?" Beth bit her lip. It was twilight; he would be awake by now. But what if he was eating? She looked at her niece.
"You wait out here," she instructed, unlocking the door.
"What?" Tobie asked. "Your lover has some deep dark secret only you're privy to?" Beth smirked. You have no idea kid. Beth pushed the door open and stepped inside.
"Hello?" She called. There was a noise in the kitchen. "Mick?" She peeked inside, and saw Josef with his fangs in a freshies neck. "What are you doing here?" She asked. Josef reluctantly pulled away from his 'breakfast'.
"I had some information for Mick, but he ran to get the stuff from you, and I was hungry, so Julie came up and, now I'm talking to you,"
"Ah," Beth nodded.
"Feel free to wait around, lover boy should be back anytime now," Josef shrugged, sinking his fangs back into Julie's neck. Beth sighed, plopping down on the couch.
"Is he here?" Beth jumped. She had completely forgotten her niece was in the hallway.
"Uh, no, I'm going to wait for like 5 more minutes though," Beth told her. "You can come sit on the couch, or the chair,"
"Right, I need something to drink though, I'm parched- where's the kitchen?" She asked. "Wait, never mind, I can figure it out," she said, heading towards the small kitchen. Beth jumped up.
"Tobie wait!" Tobie stood in the doorway, jaw on the floor. Josef looked up, fangs still planted in Julie's neck. Beth groaned, running a hand over her face.
"Uh," Josef mumbled. "Dis 'int wha' 'i 'ooks 'ike?"
