Hinata rose from her restless slumber, her hands neatly folded in her lap and eyes gazing thoughtfully out of the window. Sasuke, also awake, shifted to glance at her from over his shoulder.
Suddenly, Sasuke had a creeping feeling Hinata was about to either send him on a late errand to obtain ice cream or kick him off the bed and make him sleep on the crappy couch downstairs. He mentally groaned as he sat up, but didn't complain. He didn't want to get thrown out of the window again.
"Do…you think I'm beautiful?"
Sasuke's eyes shot up in surprise and he gazed at her with an incredulous expression. Hinata returned his gaze, appearing troubled and miserable. Sasuke heaved a sigh.
"What are you talking about, Hinata?" he asked. "What brought this up?"
"I…I just wanted to ask you…"
Seeing his beloved wife in turmoil tugged at his heartstrings. Sasuke's face softened a touch as he looked away, not wanting to see such a sad look in her opaque eyes. "Well, it's a pointless question to ask. You should already know the answer by now."
"I haven't heard the answer from y-you, Sasuke-kun," she murmured softly. "And I think the question d-deserves to be answered. It's not pointless, not to m-me."
"Beauty is an individual opinion," he stated monotonously. "It depends on how you look in the mirror and define your appearance."
Silence followed, which Sasuke was thankful. Hopefully she'll drop the subject and go back to sleep. It was still too early to face the new day. He was about to lay back down when her soft hand touched his shoulder. Sasuke looked over at Hinata and was surprised to see a gentle smile on her face.
"Your opinion means the most to me," she slowly wrapped her arms around his shoulders, burying her face in the crook of his neck. "To me, my beauty depends on how you see me, Sasuke-kun."
Sasuke couldn't think of a good counteract to win this debate. He lost this round. He smirked, closing his eyes and awaiting the inevitable question…
"So…d-do you think I'm beautiful? I want an honest answer. I don't want you to lie and think it'll make me feel better…"
Sasuke's arms curled around her waist, being mindful of her swollen belly in which their unborn child was growing. He kissed the top of her head and murmured in her hair, "Yeah."
His answer, although short and blunt, was everything she could hope for and she smiled against his skin. She lifted her head to look at Sasuke, a light pink dusting her pale cheeks. Sasuke returned the smile and Hinata knew then he was honest about his answer.
"Does that answer your question?"
"Good," he eased out of the embrace and got out of bed. "I'm going to get you some water. I'll be back."
As he made his way to the door, a sudden realization hits Hinata. "Wait, Sasuke-kun!"
"Yeah?" he glanced at her from over his shoulder, his hand lingering on the doorknob.
"Um…w-what if people think differently?" she fiddled with the hem of the comforter. "What if they d-don't think I'm—"
"They don't matter," he cut in softly, his fingers twitching slightly and then clutching at the doorknob. Then he opened a door and disappeared in the dark hallway, leaving a smiling and tearful Hinata.
A/N: Fluff overload! Take cover! XD
I really should be working on the HitsuHinata fic. Ha ha, but I was in the SasuHina mood and wrote this. I hope you liked it. :D
