We, the Sparky Army, decree 2008 to be the Year of the Spark. We pledge to post a new sparky story or chapter of a sparky story every day from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Though the Powers the Be have removed Elizabeth Weir from the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis, we feel that she remains an integral part of the show, and that the relationship between her and John Sheppard is too obvious to be ignored. We hope that you, and anyone might happen to read these works, agree.

And if that isn't official enough for you, we don't know what is. Seriously, guys, we're just trying to have some fun--and show TPTB that Sparky is the way to go. So sit back and enjoy the 366 stories coming your way!

Note from the author (Chicky): This is a short and sweet. I didn't get to enjoy the hammock in my backyard yesterday, so I decided to include a hammock scene as the place where my fic takes place.

Hammock

A cool breeze ruffled Elizabeth Weir's hair as she curled her knees up to her chest. She wrapped her arms around her legs and stared out through the railing at the ocean below. A small sigh escaped her lips as she leaned back and closed her eyes enjoying the gentle breeze on her warm skin. After the hectic day she'd had, she wouldn't have traded this spot for the world, and she deserved a few minutes of rest before retiring to her room for the evening.

The door to the balcony made a little whooshing sound as it opened, but Elizabeth didn't need to open her eyes to know who had stepped outside to join her.

"I saw you from the control room," John's voice came from beside her. "I hope you don't mind my company."

"I don't mind at all," Elizabeth said as her eyes slowly opened. She carefully got her balance and placed her feet on the ground. She scooted over, and John sat down next to her. The hammock was awkwardly tilted for a second until both of them moved into a more comfortable position. John lay back on the hammock using his jacket as a makeshift pillow. Elizabeth rested her head on his chest, and he wrapped an arm around her.

"It's so beautiful out here tonight," Elizabeth said breaking the silence that seemed to descend over them.

"It is," John agreed looking down at her.

The two of them continued to relax on the balcony enjoying each other's company and the view until Elizabeth fell asleep. John smiled down at her sleeping form and wrapped his jacket around her. He brushed her wavy hair out of her face with his hand and continued to look out over the ocean knowing that he'd be content just staying with her like this forever.

The End
