He silently followed her down the halls. She'd been acting strange all day. Sure, he hadn't seen her as much – due to the fact that they couldn't work together, conflict of interest and all. But, they still tried to see each other as much as possible.
She made a quick left turn and he almost tripped, thankfully he had fast reflexes and he caught himself. When he turned the same corner as she, she was not there. Nick frowned. Where had she gone? Nick looked left, looked right, but Sofia was nowhere to been seen. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned swiftly. There she was; one eyebrow raised, a smirk on her lips and left hand on her hip. His eyes fell on the perfect ring she donned, a match to his own.
"Are you following me Mr. Stokes?"
Nick felt as if he was in an interrogation. He laughed to himself; his own wife, interrogating him! He shook his head in humor.
"Guilty as charged ma'am." He raised his arms in surrender like motion.
Sofia clicked her tongue and nodded. She then pulled him into an empty break room. Nick laughed as she quickly pulled him into a quick kiss, making sure no one was to around. Being husband and wife strangely had its limitations.
"You've been actin' strange all day. I was just worried about you." He whined.
Sofia smirked playfully.
"You know I hate when you worry about me."
Nick rolled his eyes. He saw Hodges pass by and when he left, Nick stole a kiss from Sofia. She smiled into his kiss.
When he pulled away, Sofia had a large smile on her face. Nick smiled in curiosity.
"What's got you all giddy?"
Now it was Sofia's turn to roll her eyes.
"What, I can't smile when my husband kisses me?"
"Of course you can smile. But I know you Sofia, when I kiss you, you always smirk. You don't smile. So tell me, what's up with you today?"
Sofia smiled again, but this time it was a smile of all knowing, knowing something that Nick did not.
"Do you remember what we talked about last week?"
Nick thought for a moment. Unfortunately, he came up blank. He shook his head and Sofia sighed in frustration.
"Oh come on Nick, you couldn't have forgotten that easily." He shook his head again.
She pursed her lips, and, instead of telling him, she showed him. She slowly took his hand, at first he was still confused, but then he gained realization as she set it gently on her stomach. He widened his eyes and a huge grin broke out on his face.
"You mean . . . ?"
She but her lip and nodded. He hand still rested on its spot.
"Well, we don't have to worry about planning it now . . . "
His smile grew.
"So there might be a little Nick Jr. in there?"
She set her hands on both sides of his face and stared at him with determination.
"Nick. We are not naming our baby Nick Jr. Do you understand that? Besides, it's going to be a girl."
Nick rolled his eyes.
"No, Nick. Madeline."
"No, Nick Jr."
She clamped a hand on his mouth as he was about to argue once again.
"Nick, you argue with me one more time and I'll tell the whole team about that one time you accidentally got your –"
"Okay. Fine, we'll name her Madeline."
Sofia smiled in victory.
