Darkness enveloped the Connecticut woods. Two dark figures ran through the trees. One held a knife. The other was running for his life. The figure with the knife caught up to his prey, and a third figure came out into the open, holding a rifle. The third figure took a shot, and their prey went down. The figure with the knife, taking it as his opportunity, walked over to his downed prey and stabbed him ten times.
Dean Winchester wiped the blood from his knife with a handkerchief.
"That takes care of that," he said, looking down at the dead man at his feet.
"You didn't have to stab him ten times," Sam Winchester said, walking up behind his brother. "Two would have been plenty."
Dean stood up and put the knife back into the inside pocket of his leather jacket.
"Hey Sam, do you have the map? I think we may have gotten a little lost." He held out his hand, but Sam didn't put anything into it. "Sam, what the hell-" Dean took one look at his brother and knew something was up. Sam was standing up straight, staring at Dean as if he were Superman using his x-ray vision. "Dude, what's wrong?"
"Dean, are you hungry? I'm hungry. Let's get a hamburger." Dean stared at his brother. It wasn't like Sam to change the subject all of a sudden. If Dean asked him a question, Sam usually answered.
"Okay," Dean pulled his knife out again and held it out in front of him. "Where's my brother?" Sam took a few steps toward Dean, who readied his knife.
"I am your brother, Dean. It's Sam."
"You're not Sam. You take me to him or I'm going to slit your throat, changeling."
The changeling smiled. "I guess you'll have to kill me, then." With that it leapt toward Dean, and with Sam's strength it quickly overpowered him. It took Dean a few minutes to get free, but he finally managed to reach his knife with the tips of his fingers and drove it into the chest of the changeling. It exploded into a great fireball, and was gone.
Dean jumped up and gathered his bearings. The real Sam had come into the woods with him. Somewhere along the way he was replaced with a Stepford version. Dean wanted his brother back. His real brother. He frantically ran through the woods, shouting his brother's name and hoping for a response.
After a 1/2 hour of searching, Dean came upon a small cave. He rushed inside, flashlight in front of him, and found his brother bound, gagged and half-conscious on the ground.
"Sam!" Dean ran to his brother and quickly untied him.
"What the hell happened?" Sam asked, rubbing the back of his head.
"Changeling. I'm not sure what his motives were, but I prefer the real Sammy, not the version from Stepford Wives."
"Thanks, I think." Sam got up and walked ahead of his brother. The changeling had deposited his things at the entrance to the cave. "Hey wait a minute. I thought changelings only went after children."
"Obviously we were mistaken. Or he thought you'd be a good mother changeling."
"YOU were mistaken. I was tied and gagged and thrown into a cave."
