We, the Sparky Army, decree 2008 to be the Year of the Spark. We pledge to post a new sparky story or chapter of a sparky story every day from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008. Though the Powers that Be have removed Elizabeth Weir from the regular cast of Stargate Atlantis, we feel that she remains an integral part of the show, and that the relationship between her and John Sheppard is too obvious to be ignored. We hope that you, and anyone might happen to read these works, agree.

And if that isn't official enough for you, we don't know what is. Seriously, guys, we're just trying to have some fun--and show TPTB that Sparky is the way to go. So sit back and enjoy the 366 stories coming your way!

A/N (BlueSkys91): Something very, very similar, ok the same thing, happened to me awhile back, and I too thought I was being inconspicuous.

What are Friends For

BY BlueSkys91

When Sam had first brought up the idea to me, I dismissed it as Sam having had one too many beers on our "girl's night out" on Earth.

When she brought it up again the next day, I realized she was serious. Though I really could not believe it was coming from Samantha Carter!

My reaction had been something like, "Did you get caught in any alien devises lately?"

That was when Teyla, who had been in the room and out with us the night before, stepped in. " She is correct," she had said in her normal, calm, cool and collected way.

At this point I thought my eyes where were going to pop out of their sockets. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"Am I really that obvious?" I replied after recovering from the shock.

"I am afraid so," Teyla stated, "do you remember my first night on Atlantis?" she inquired.

"Yes, very well actually," I said trying to regain back some of my dignity.

Teyla's cheeks flushed slightly, which was very unusual for her, "I thought that you and he were, as you put it Samantha, a 'couple'. After I had thanked John for all he had done, I saw the way you where looking at us."

"So that was when you knew?" I asked as all the dignity I had reacquired, disappeared without a trace.

"Yes." Teyla was trying to hide a smile, I could tell.

I let out a groan.

"If it's any consolation," Sam said, "I don't think 'he'"She made quotations with her figures, "knows."

"Really?" I asked. Maybe I had a chance for a small portion of my self-respect to come back.

"Yeah, you know men they are totally oblivious to anything that doesn't have big boobs," Sam said with a whole hearted laugh.

I had to stifle one myself, and Teyla even looked like she was trying desperately not to laugh.

"So you really don't think he knows?" I said after our laughter died down.

"Liz, don't worry," Sam said smiling, "it took four, long years for Jack to even clue in that I was interested, and I know for a fact it would have been longer if he hadn't had three sisters growing up." Sam placed a hand on my shoulder.

"I do believe he does not know, Elizabeth," Teyla said, putting her hand on mine from across the table.

"Yeah, trust us, John has no clue you have a school girl crush on him," Sam said.

"Ahh," I groaned, letting my head fall into my crossed arms currently lying on the table.

Did she have to use that term for it? I thought, Well bye-bye dignity, it was nice knowing you. What are friends for!
