Professor Severus Snape had made his way down to the dark, dank and otherwise really not very nice dungeons in order to prepare a special potion…an original concoction designed to elicit heat in the person who drank it. His pace was quick for there was not much time before she would arrive and he had to make sure that it was ready for her. As he walked along quickly, his dark robes billowing out dramatically behind him, he hoped that it would have the desired result. He licked his lips in anticipation.
Quickly unlocking the door to his private laboratory with a well-chosen spell, he quickly gathered the ingredients that he would need, effortlessly navigating the stores room for each particular item. He set up a small pewter cauldron and quickly started up a small fire to get the process started.
As the flames flickered seductively around the base of the cauldron, he began to add the ingredients, measuring by eye alone, dexterous fingers stirring swiftly after the addition of each item.
"Yes, she will not be able to resist," he thought to himself with a sardonic chuckle.
As the solution bubbled ominously in the cauldron, Severus heard a knock at the door. He walked over and opened it slightly.
She was here.
She had arrived.
And she appeared to be shivering in anticipation, standing nervously in her robes of azure blue with a black cloak, looking up at him with…almost pleading in her eyes. She pushed back her hair awkwardly.
"Good evening, Hermione," he greeted her in that dark, silky voice of his.
"Good evening, Professor," she murmured, biting her lip in a most endearing fashion.
"Please, you may call me Severus," he drawled as he invited her to step into the laboratory.
She looked around the room with wide eyes and she shivered again as he removed her cloak to drape it carefully on a nearby chair.
"I have something for you," he placed a warm hand on her shoulder, guiding her towards the bubbling cauldron.
She looked inside the cauldron and then looked up at him.
"For me?" she asked in a voice barely above a whisper.
"For you," he murmured as he picked up a ladle and dipped it into the contents of the cauldron, pouring it into a goblet. He handed it to her…his fingers brushing against hers ever so slightly.
She inhaled the vapours emanating from the goblet.
"It smells…delicious…irresistible," she breathed with her eyes closed.
Severus raised his eyebrows in amusement…and anticipation.
"Drink…it will make you feel…better," he commanded in a low voice.
She opened her eyes to look at him and shivered once again. Slowly and deliberately, she placed the goblet to her lips and took a long sip. She lowered the goblet slightly…licking her lips and breathing out heavily.
Severus came closer to her.
"How do you feel?"
"I feel all…warm inside…like a band of heat radiating throughout my entire body," she whispered, no longer shivering.
"So, what do you think?" he asked quietly as he stood directly in front of her, eyes searching hers.
"You do make the best hot chocolate, Severus!"
