Part 1 of my Breaking Dawn Quote Drabbles.

I held tightly to Edward's hand as he led me through the living room towards the garage. My car driving skills hadn't improved much since he bought me the Guardian. I hoped he wasn't expecting much for this new unveiling. Alice and Emmett followed along behind us; Alice because she wanted to see my reaction and Emmett because his curiosity over the curtained vehicle in the garage had grown unbearable.

"Alice picked out the car," Edward explained softly as we walked into the cavernous garage. "But I chose the color."

I looked up at him as we came to a stop at the far end of the garage where my present had been waiting patiently for weeks. The frown on my face seemed wrong. Edward's expression went from bright anticipation to concern in record time.

"Bella, if you don't like it…" He hesitated, looking for the right words. "You don't have to keep it. I just thought you'd like something…nice."

My heart tugged at the emotion in his voice. He would have been more upset if Alice and Emmett weren't standing there, waiting for us, and I felt bad. I wrapped my arms around his torso and pulled him close to me. One of his arms snaked around my waist while his other hand drifted up to stroke my cheek. Standing this close to him, feeling his protective yet gentle hold on my body, I knew I was being foolish.

"Edward," I sighed, letting my pettiness go. "Whatever it is, I'm going to love it. Really. Because it came from you."

His mouth spread into his crooked grin and I stood up on my tip toes to press my lips against his.

"Seriously, if I knew I was coming to watch this… I would have stayed with Rose." Emmett's groan made me laugh and pull away from Edward.

"Ok Bella, pull it off," Alice said, excitement practically causing her to bounce up and down.

I shook my head. "Someone else can. I'll watch." I imagined myself trying to pull off the sheet valiantly and end up tangled, falling over, or worse.

Alice glanced at Edward and they spoke at the same time. "I'll do it."

They stared at each other for a moment, each standing tall against the other, although Edward far dominated Alice's tiny frame. Emmett sighed and leaned up against the Jeep behind him. "Whenever you're ready," he mumbled sarcastically.
Alice's eyes narrowed at Edward, her smile never leaving her face. "I'll play you for it. Rock, paper, scissors," she said.

Edward sighed, his muscles relaxing and his arm going back around my waist. "Why don't you just tell me who wins?"

Alice closed her eyes for a long blink and opened them, her smile even brighter. "I do. Excellent."

She reached out, her tiny hands grabbing a large portion of the sheet. Edward turned his face towards me, burying his nose in my hair. I heard him inhale deeply and was too distracted by his intimate gesture to notice Alice ripping the sheet from the faded red sports car. Here in Edward's arms, it didn't matter anymore. The material bonuses of our union, the petty resistances I threw up against them… none of it mattered.

I had my eternity in my grasp and that was all I needed.
