"Don't be scared, Yuki." Dan whispered into her ear. "I'm not, Dan… I love you." He rolled the both of them over so she was straddling him. With steady hands, he reached up and grasped the zipper on Yuki's dress. Dan slowly pulled it down as she leaned in and captured his lips in a-
-"Yes! Did you see that guy, Sakura-chan?! Freakin' great! He cleared that whole damn thing on stilts! Stilts!"
The pink-haired konoichi stared blankly up at her boyfriend from her curled up position on his raggedy loveseat. A moment ago, they had been sitting on it together, Sakura lost in one of her girly romance novels, and Naruto on the edge of his seat, cheering on strangers competing on some dumb show. Something had caused him to spring out of his place next to her and pump his fist in the air a couple times. She looked over at the TV and watched a slow-motion replay of some old man climbing hills, crossing thin bridges, and avoiding swinging logs on wooden stilts. As he reached the goal, the re-cap ended and the image on the small screen switched over to a commercial for Maruchan cup ramen.
"What the hell are you watching?" Sakura asked flatly.
"Only the most intense show in the world, Sakura-chan! UNBEATABLE BANZUKE!" Naruto threw a couple more punches.
"Looks like a load of crap, if you ask me…" He wheeled around, a look of horror plastered on his face. She raised her eyebrows.
"A load of- Are you kidding me?! People from all over Japan come on this show to compete in the most rigorous courses under the most ridiculous conditions! Climbing centimeter-wide hills on stilts, ollying pools of mud on skateboards! These people are true warriors, Sakura-chan!" The blond clutched at his heart, his eyes teary and filled with passion.
"Ahhh… Ha…" Sakura nodded her head slowly, her mouth slightly ajar.
"Shh! It's back on!" Naruto sat down on the floor, inches away from the flickering television. His girlfriend shook her head and went back to reading her book.
"Dork." She muttered, earning a loud shush from him.
The next day, Sakura was surprised to find Naruto sitting on the white bed when she opened the door to a room in the hospital. His right ankle was swollen and splotchy purple bruises wrapped around it.
"What happened? That looks like a sprain." She asked, not amused in the least bit. The hyperactive Shinobi chuckled nervously.
"Heh, well… I found out I'm not too great at walking on stilts."
With a roll of her eyes, Sakura replied sarcastically "Big surprise."
Own Naruto I do not. I also don't own Unbeatable Banzuke. Thank gosh, though, because it's, like, the most repetitive show ever. Next to Ninja Warrior. G4, my friends. It's only good for Attack Of The Show and Xplay. Just sayin'.
Mhm, mhm, reviews.
