He was standing there, his back to her, but she knew he was waiting for her.
"I'm sorry for making you wait."
Caspian turned around and smiled, extending a hand for her: she took it and he pulled her closer. "It is not nice for a Queen to make someone wait."
She caressed his hand with both of hers and kissed his knuckles. "But the Queen was being stubborn and stupid and lost her way: can you forgive her?"
"I will always forgive you." He cupped her cheek and pressed his lips to her eyelids, nose and lips.
Susan's breath caught in her throat. "What if I had not come back?"
"There is no 'what if'. You're here."
"But…" she couldn't let it go. He hugged her and silenced her with a kiss that was powerful and gentle, it stole her will away and she couldn't help but lean on him. She sighed in pleasure and let him lower her and himself to the ground, so that he was standing protectively over her on his hands and knees, staring at her intensely.
"My Susan, we were fated to be together: I knew that you would have found your way back to me."
